QPR Post Match Recrimination

QPR fan here....

Just a few quick points....

Thought we deserved to win today, maybe not by 2 goals, but thought on the day we had the outstanding players in Buzsaky and Blackstock and they made the difference.

As for you lot....when IH was at QPR he often went with 2 older, slower strikers in Gallen and Furlong. In some matches it worked, but everyone could see we were crying out for a striker with pace...Holloway never addressed this issue. At Plymouth he bought in Ebanks Blake and he has been v. impressive for them since he joined...I just fear for you lot having 2 players up front like Hayles and Howard who are very immobile and pretty slow really. They are quite easy to mark and deal with. Against the lesser teams they will pick up the odd goal, but just cant see how those two will lift you up the table...someone like Iain Hume though is quality, and if he's used correctly I don't think you lot will go down.

As for you centre back, Mccauley....is he that bad every week?!

McAuley has been so inconsistent this season. Last season he was our best defender without a shadow of a doubt. But this season, he's been not been the same.

He lacks pace as well.

We need to play Hume and Howard up front. Hume imo is our best player and needs to be playing in the position he's best at, regardless of what people think, or where he has played, he is a striker. Howard would be the perfect foil for him.

I agree, Hume will work his bollocks off all day and he will chase the flick ons and play of Howard. This would also get the best out of Howard. I would also like to see Dj be given a chance to work along side Howard when he is fit, I think this could be a pretty good partnership considering Dj's pace.

Just come back from a decent time in London. Game was fooking awful. Chance upon chance, Fryatt missing on the line. Embarrasing.

Can I ask . . .

How many formations did we play today?

Does Ollie know (a) his best team, (b) his best formation?

Does Ollie know (a) his best midfield combination (b) his best strike force (c ) his best set piece taker

Has anyone ever seen a Left Full substituted for a striker before? (in the first half!)

Does each (any) team member know the role he has to play in whatever formation Ollie sets up and the change in role as the formation changes?

Have we got an all talking, all singing No 1 - masquerading as a manager?

Happy New Year

Well today certainly cleared up a few grey areas.

Henderson, Stearman, Kisnorbo, McAuley, Hume and Fryatt have been here for 2 or more seasons and are still crap, individually and collectively. When more than half your starting eleven is at best Blue Square standard what hope do we have of surviving. Messers Clemence, N'Gotty, Mattock, Hayles, Howard and Chambers get some more time as they have had to play and train with that previously mentioned shower of shit and it is bound to have a detramental effect on your performance levels.

What is going on with Stearman? Has he completely lost the plot. The more I watch him, the more it dawns on me that he has forgotton the art of marking and likes to go off on a mad frolic of his own during games.

Get rid, I say...

I still don't think every individual player is no good. The performances have to reflect the feeling within the dressing room...................I'm worried..........this was supposed to be sorted out.

and I can't see Ollie dropping his best mate Bazza, now he's here.

Whats going on with James Chambers? He was arguably at fault for all three of QPR's goals.

Really?

I can't remember exactly but Stearman really didn't close down the guy who put in the cross for their second and Henderson was pathetic with their third.

Can't remember who was marking Stewart for their first though.

Henderson just doesn't command his area. The first two goals were scored inside our six-yard box and the third was straight at him. He's a poor keeper for the Championship and I don't think it was any accident that suddenly we were dreadful at defending set pieces. He doesn't inspire confidence in the outfield players (or the fans).

It was like going back to last year defensively. Kisnorbo and McAuley aren't the best players in the division but they looked more confident with Fulop to rely on.

Spot on. When a defender is playing in front of a keeper who can deal with crosses they play more confidently. Henderson is a decent shot stopper but in the Championship you need someone who commands his area because thats were the most goals are scored from.

Really don't know what you want Thrac. Ollie bought his first 2 players for the club yesterday, the earliest possible occasion, and both of them were Strikers.

Ollie's always been considered more gung ho than defensive and I haven't seen anything to the contrary.

You've not seen too many of his team selections for us then?

With SIX defenders in the starting line-up, giving the first goal away from a setpiece was unforgivable.

And with the midfield doing its usual disappearing act, it was always going to be a struggle from that point onwards.

QPR are on a roll. Their players were full of confidence from their win at Watford and they have a manager who knows what he's doing. They should avoid the drop with ease.

Sadly I can't say the same about us. There is no leadership on the pitch at the moment and until this issue is dealt with, we will continue to under-perform.

Meanwhile, Holloway and Mandaric MUST do whatever it takes to bring Fulop to the Way on a permanent basis - even offering Kisnorbo in part-exchange if need be.

Glad I was away for this and didn't get back until early hours so even missed the result.

All I will say is that whatever the scoreline deserved or not this is a terrible result (no discresit to QPR) but just when confidence seemed to have returned with the last 3 results this will/could set us back a long time.

Seriosly concerned about our lack of pace in almost every position. Kavanagh wont add to that either. It looks like a desperate fight ahead of us just to stay in this league and this time we really might not make it. We are after all 5 points worse off than this stage last season.

We have to win against Cov and crystal palace imo or we are in deep deep trouble.

I haven't read the thread, just online for the first time since the match

but its fairly clear surely..look at what Vine, Busazcky and Ainsworth did to us merely by spreading the ball, good deliveries and using width!!

we need wide midfielders and a creative midfielder urgently

I believe we now have sufficient options up front, I can live with most of our defence (ex Henderson) but beyond a lump and hope we can't hope to create anything with square pegs in round holes, with no pace, across the middle four

other thoughts

Henderson--inspires no confidence whatsover, no command of his area

Clemence- He (or Weso) should be the holding midfielder ..bring in someone with an eye for a pass or a throughball please

Howard--looked promising, Hume is the best partner for him.

Fryatt's miss- for crying out loud he put it at the one place in the goal he wouldn't score. Laughable!

Full backs...exposed today, but thats what happens when balls are played quickly out wide before you have the chance to organise doubling up to defend them

Read my post again, he's bought 2 strikers at the first possible occasion, the rest of the squad he inherited. If he's still player defenders in midfield in Febuary you might have a point.

They were otherwise engaged, Ultra..................

Is no one else concerned that QPR's best player on the pitch on tuesday was actually SOLD to them by Ollie???

Seems he doesn't know a good player when he has one.

As for Hayles he's had his day. He should be put out to pasture not up front for us.

Sold over his head. Holloway desperately wanted to keep him. So no, I'm not concerned about that.

That's not actually true. Akos wanted to stay at Plymouth but Ollie reccomended to the board that he be sold. By the time Ollie had come to us the deal had been finalised for the transfer window.

Not being funny but Plymouth aren't a selling club especially when it comes to their best players. Hence why we only ended up with Hayles and not Hayles and Norris!

I think all of that is absolute bollocks to be honest.
