Any of the previous manager wouldn't have got these new players in.

Well done to Mr Mandaric on employing someone like Holloway who's a very likeable guy and has a great warmth and presence in front of his players. I can honestly say the team is becoming something to be proud of, the past few years have been really bad and the players have been poor for obvious financial reasons. I feel as though we have something now, as soon as they bond and become a propper team, they should push up. I'm banking on a top of the 2nd half of the table position so nothing too extreme, but next year I'm looking forward to it.

6 days ago they were a disgrace

I would agree that things look more positive following this weeks activities but I think we need to see activity on the pitch before we can start to feel proud again!!

Agreed although at this moment im feeling good about the new players but Oakley and Howard may not turn out what we expect but maybe they will and then we will have something to be proud of :D

give it time before we say things like that, rome wasnt built in a day, it took LFF a few years to realise he had a problem with violating sheep and god CERTAINLY didnt make mr mandarics nose in a week, would have took a few seasons that. admit they are good signings, but other teams have good players too but dont do well and vice versa. just wait to see what happens and i dont mean if we beat cov then we are sorted (but it helps lol) 'MON U BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS! (royal lol)

Another worrying thing is that other clubs in the Championship seem to be buying quality too - so the question is whether our quality will be good enough?

But hey - at least we have a midfield now, thats got to help!

This could all change with a loss against cov

Agreed the last couple of days have given us all optimism, but lets not go overboard. If we win today we won't necessarily be world beaters and if we lose, the new signings won't all of a sudden be disasters. Give it time.

The signings are interesting and offer a lot of promise, but it's going to take time and support from all to make this work... I think there are some positive signs for us, but we need to support and not expect miracles... this is a time thing, and when it hits the right note, I'm really looking forward to where we go...:D

I'm not jumping ahead at the moment as we all know what happened with Hellings, Kaebi and Ferreira.

Firstly, Oakley and Howard are very positive signings, as theyve experienced promotion last season, and are proven at this level. Hayles seems to be a short term option and squad player at best, which I'm quite happy with. However, most of the hype seems to be around two anonymous wingers which have no idea about their abilities. Its no good thinking they will be superstars before theyve even stepped foot in England, and this was blatantly proven by the examples I provided above.

Ferreira came in with bigger hype, with also the bonus of playing for a very big european club. I am aware of the situation though, has he never actually player for City, but it just shows how excitement can be easily upset. Kaebi was meant to have been the biggest coup of the summer, and that turned out great, didnt it? Hellings represented Holland at every age group until 21 (I think), but what happened to him?

Obviously I wish them all the best, and I really hope they turn out to be good assetts for the club, but I'll reserve my judgement after todays game...

i think the difference now is that IH is buying players that will form a whole, that each purchase has a place and a function... the players you mention were piecemeal signings just for the sakes of having signings.

yes, they were in similar positions but not necessarily of complimentary styles... i think the reason the hungarians could prove more successful, is that they would seem to be something of a double act, a partnership if you will... and oakes and howard are used to working with each other, as for hayles, he is a player that IH knows very well and will be around for what he adds to the moral and experience of the team...

naturally, it could still fall flat, but at least it looks like some thought has been put into these acquisitions...
