in the Prison Service?

I'm very undecided because of the horror stories you hear about prisons etc but I'm intrigued.

Does anyone know anyone in the prison service (not as a prisoner though)? What does everyone reckon?

why not, I know all about the prison service (from watching Prison Break) and you get loads of back handers and in season 2 get a lapdance from Holly Valance!

Been on a tour of Glen Parva and it was another world and one that I dont want to visit again anytime soon.

My friend did three days as a trainee prison guard. Three days is all he lasted. I think he was attacked five time in that time, once in a wardens office. His Dad had been a prison officer but it wasn't for him.

I know a few people who are prison oficers and they are top blokes and have no horror storys. If it is something you want to go. Go for it matey.

Try Pelican Bay prison

Theres a program about the place CH5 Wednesdays Looks a lot of fun.

We sometimes get ex-prison officers in the security service. Very regimental. I don't think your age will matter too much. It may help with the younger prisoners if you can relate to them. I think most of them keep their head down and just do the time. Some prisoners will obviously tryit on if you are new but if you just do the job they will learn to respect you. At least you'll know the truth as to what it's like inside instead of reading about it in the Mail or Sun.

I know someone who does it.

They do very little and get paid a lot of money to do it.

Having said that - they have heard some horror stories (which have been passed on) and it's not something I fancy.

The job probably varies prison to prison. Theres the max security ones where you'll have to watch your back and do regular cell searches or the open type prison where the most dangerous inmate is a granny that failed to pay their council tax. Like all types of jobs once qualified I should imagine you can choose the best place for you.

nasty looking place! I visited it once years ago when I did some youth enterprise scheme thing at school for some presentation by some of the lads there. Didn't seem that nice at all.

It's not in Glen Parva either by a long way!! I live in Glen Parva and people always say "oh where the prison is", no...

One of my friends/acquantancies (not seem him for ages) is a prison guard and he loves it, doesn't have any problems at all.

Is that the place near a park? Think I did a night there guarding. Not the prison part the office part. They had had a break in and wanted somebody to babysit the place.

Could not touch anything cos of forensics. The cops did come to see how I was doing. One said he would not like to do my job or hours.

Also did the place in the County which I believe is a prison but once again it was in another building . It was like a changing room with just benches in. Horrible place.

Thats where I was. The doors were awful to unlock. Don't know what had been taken but I was taken off another site to go there. Didn't know what I could touch and had to sit in near darkness. One of our mobile drivers came by a couple of times and flashed from his car but he should have come in to see me I was told in the morning. It was a bit scary because I was told it was a rough area.

The first place I did security wwa the Towers hospital. But it was in the part where the Drs and nurses were not where the patients were. There was one bloke though who was an ex inmate who used to wander on the site and kept frightning the nurse by staring through the windows.

Now security work also interests me (not supermarket stuff) but its just the hours but if I would have to get used to that especially if I end up working shifts.

I've got too cushy in my 9 to 5 Mon to Fri job.

Plus, shifts could clash with City home games...that would be bummer.

No, retirement is nearer. At my age it may be thought as pervy but a young bloke like you, you wouldn't look out of place. You might even get your hands on some big tits tips too.

I know a bloke who is in the Prison service but he enjoys roughing up the in-mates at every opportunity he gets. Ive told him he has a death wish once some of these dudes come out but he has turned into aright prat with the latest him slapping his missus.

Lets hope it doesnt turn you into a madman lol

I wouldn't do it myself, the money may be good but none of that would really matter if you got attacked by some sort of shank or had your face scarred by some crazy ****. Having said that, I have known a few lads who've ended up in the nick who are quite nice lads really just a little too wild and hot headed at the wrong times.
