I started a site with a City theme and downloaded a load of pictures but now I'm stuck. I may need a host at some point although I've used them before and my sites never get going. The programs quite easy to use as all the tools are on the home page and you just add stuff and you have an area where you put to do things. But its harder for me to take it all in as I was not born in the PC at school era. I'll have another go and maybe just do a couple of pages. What I need really is a web-builder to do it for me. I'll even pass on the program as payment. I suppose I could do a site.

I have the free package to get people interested and sign up with it. Once I have got a good customer base etc. I'll probably remove the free package Costs me £24 a month to run and atm I'm only making £5 so not going too well atm but if I can get it advertised etc. and people like it who knows what can happen?! Edit: That message may have occurred because the VPS was being sorted out by the tech guys. Tell me if it keeps happening and I'll ask them about it.

I don't even sell domains atm To resell domains it would cost me £15 per month for the actual privilege and then a further £5 for each domain. To get any sort of return I'd have to charge more than £5 for each domain and I'm realistic, I get domains for £3 so pointless selling them.
danny. Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 £24/month is a lot for just a VPS. You can get a fully dedicated server from 1and1 for another fiver a month, domains are £2/year for .co.uk if that's any help. That's what we use, got about 5-6 dedicated server with them, never any problems.

The £24 includes the cPanel licence and the WHMCS professional billing area. Here Though what annoys me is that I wasn't told until after purchasing that the VPS is un supported

Surely the fact that you can completely control all your domain names with 1and1 and their prices are cheap is a big plus? As you don't offer domain names that seems a bit pointless as I'm guessing they will need another provider to manage the domain and then point at your VPS? client area looks good althought I'm sure you can get very similar free PHP solutions you could install that would work as well. just trying to help BTW, not trying to piss on your parade or anything

Don't like your website much mate, looks too gimmicky and you can tell instantly it is a template. I'd spend time developing your own unique website if you wanna be taken seriously and make some money. Please don't take this as me tryna be dick just trying to give you some honest advice.

Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Do you do web hosting or just have servers for something else? yea a bit, although the business is website design/developent, but hosting is an extra service as most people prefer us to look after that too. makes hardly anything at all revenue-wise a year though.
