Number 6 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Just wondering whether people would prefer to see a system like the head-to-head like La Liga instead of goal difference in England. When I first heard of the head-to-head system I thought it was a load of crap but I have started to think it's actually a good idea. It adds more importance to the games against rivals, especially when they are played at the beginning of the season. Is it really significant if Man U stick 6 past Derby? I don't want to encourage Benitez and his rotation, and think maybe bonus points would be a good idea, but just a thought I wanted to get people's views on.
Bert Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Forget bonus points. Head to head is much better. Say Man Utd and Liverpool finish joint top, but Liverpool have a better goal difference, but Man Utd have the better record over Liverpool for that season, surely that states, over that season, Man Utd have been better than Liverpool, therefore, they deserve the title? Just my thought on it all, good topic.

It would also mean teams will continue playing attacking football for longer methinks, and we all love to see goals (not against us of course). Although I don't want to see teams defending all match
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 The Italians actually used to have play offs if two teams finished tied on points. Another way of doing it. Drags the season out a bit though I suppose.
Head Honcho Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 As long as it's the only thing we take from the Italians I'm all for head to head over the season. .....................they can keep corruption though! .....................and diving ......................and Racism/Marco Materazzi
lildave3 Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I personally prefer goal difference, but that's just me.
AyewJoking Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 head to head is good and im sure everyone would get used to it after a while but i prefer goal difference.
