Hugo Sanchez Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Apparently. How much ? Portsmouth be stupid to sell there top striker but they did it a few year back but they reckon they're not a selling club no more.
MikeyT Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 I cant believe Mr. Redknapp would sell Benjani...i had heard the same rumour but i cant believe its true!
Bert Posted 31 January 2008 Author Posted 31 January 2008 He's having a medical. It's on the Skysports website, just can't be bothered to do the link.

Guest seanfox778 Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 I reckon they have the green light for Defoe, or they just think Baros is a good enough replacement
Maybes Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 I reckon they have the green light for Defoe, or they just think Baros is a good enough replacement Its the former rather than the latter .
Wils Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 I jussst heard this on sky sports, and Defoe to Pompey?
MC Prussian Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Mediocre player if you ask me. The amount of goals he's scored for Pompey speak otherwise.
joely22 Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 The amount of goals he's scored for Pompey speak otherwise. The amount of chances missed is a strong argument against your case aswell though
dandannieldanok Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Mediocre player if you ask me. Better than Vassell and Mpenza though.
MC Prussian Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 The amount of chances missed is a strong argument against your case aswell though That means he could be as good as Adebayor...

Joe. Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Interesting one really. Can't say I'm covinced he'll score many for Man City If Portsmouth manage to get Defoe he'll be a better player than Benjani has been for them I think.
Jack Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Surprised by this tbh. Don't think he'll do aswell at City than as he did at Pompey.

Agree with that. I think Harry stuck by him when he was doing real shit last season, I doubt he'll be given the same amount of time to prove himself at Citeh to be honest. Defoe would be a good replacement for him.
lildave3 Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Benjani is the right type of striker for both teams. I can't see Defoe or Baros holding the ball up and laying others off like Benjani does.
Ultra Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Perhaps not, but a Baros-Defoe partnership might score more goals.
lildave3 Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Perhaps not, but a Baros-Defoe partnership might score more goals. How many occasions as he played 2 up front this season? Pre-African Cup of Nations I mean, just out of interest.
WetFlannel Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 He usually cant hit a barn door, but hes been doing well this season. I think the better alternative would of been Crouch, but Im not aware of the prices being discussed at the minute.
The Reverend Posted 31 January 2008 Posted 31 January 2008 Takes him 3 chances to score, a true modern day Andy Cole.
Joe. Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Looks like this one's going through then. £7.6 million? That's steep if you ask me.
