DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 What's all this slagging off of Hume lately? He can outrun most opposition, has decent ball skills, and most important can cross which not many City players can do, which is of course inherent to the task of a winger. So what's all this 'Hume's not a winger' rhetoric? He's the best 'winger' that City have got atm.

filbertway Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 He plays on the leftt, he plays on the riiiight that free loading canadian ( © Family guy ) makes Leicester look s****te
Geo V Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Im tired talking about Hume to be honest. The lot of them should raise there game regardless of where Ollie plays them because they all have ability. Its just a shame that none of them can remember how to use it.

MC Prussian Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 "In football, a winger is an attacking midfielder in a wide position. Wingers are usually players of great pace or dribbling ability so as to provide cut-backs or crosses from which strikers can score. Their main function is to support attack from the wings. Wingers do lots of high-speed running from attack to defence." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winger_%28sport%29

Set-piece taking doesn't count unless you're happy to say Alan Shush! is a brilliant winger.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 13 February 2008 Author Posted 13 February 2008 Read my post ten mins earlier, it was more clinical That was non-committal, clearly taking the easy way out. That and your tifo
Number1flanker Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Hume needs a good kicking!!! His performaces of late have been crap, Its like he xpects 2b in the squad coz he is " Fans Favourite "

Set-piece taking doesn't count unless you're happy to say Alan Shush! is a brilliant winger. No I'm not referring to set pieces at all (which City are dire at from what I've seen). I'm referring to his ability to get some space on the wing, outrun and outball some of the opposition, and put a well timed/aimed cross in. Who else does this as well as Hume does? No one. That's why he's still being played on the wing. Seems he's being subjected to something of a witch hunt, why I have no idea.
Geo V Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 That was non-committal, clearly taking the easy way out. That and your tifo He can play on the wing but for his manager to say he moans when playing in that position is a poor reflection on Hume himself. When we see him play he has energy which is what wingers need, is good on the ball and can cross and can smack them in from a distance but we just dont see him doing that at the moment. Capable yes, bothered NO!
Guest Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Hume needs a good kicking!!! His performaces of late have been crap, Its like he xpects 2b in the squad coz he is " Fans Favourite " Yeah cos a) he's the only one who's had a couple of poor games isn't he? and b) how do you know he expects to be in the squad? I'd love to know where everybody is getting these wonderful insights into what Hume thinks
Wezleylowski Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Tifo!Great to see some thought provoking replies there. Have you seen Hume on the wing? He's awful mate. He hates playing on the wing, and he is rubbish there. He is our second best striker though so should be played up top with Howard.
Daggers Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I said, a few months back, that all the crap "Huuuuuuuuume" chants that accompany his every shite kick into touch set the bar for acceptable performance really low. He's not a bad player - but we will never get better while he is still here.
MC Prussian Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Whenever Hume's placed on the right wing, he instantly develops a drive forward through the middle. He's simply too used being an attacking midfielder. His crossing is awful, that's why he'll never make it out there. He does have an offensive input, but in 50% of the cases, he becomes too egoistic and gets entangled in the opposition's defensive net. If we could, I'd play him together with Oakley, in front of Clemence - a classical 3-5-2.
Daggers Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 His forte is winning headers and flicking on, playing behind the front two. For as long as we are going to keep lumping balls forward then that is where he should play. It makes you wonder if "Call me Ollie" has watched a single video of matches before he arrived.
Fox You Forest Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Hume + Wing = Toss (i am a big fan of his but not on the wing) I would like to see him given a free roll behind the front two just to see what he could do.
Uncle Albert Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I would like to see Hume playing up front in a three with Howard and DJ. Cant see it happening anytime soon.
