Not in terms of being sacked, as I can't see that happening anytime soon, but in terms of his own ability to cope with the pressure up there again. He has had a terrible start, and I feel for him to be honest, as I think he can do a job there. But I get the feeling that he could stand down ealry next season if his summer signings don't come off, allowing the Poison Dwarf his first crack at the big time.
dandannieldanok Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 All down to the first 10 games of next season I believe, similar to my views on Ian Holloway here at City. He will have the money, like Ollie, to vastly improve the playing squad in the summer and only afterwards must he be properly judged. Although, again like Ollie, it is hard not to criticise after their respective starts to their current jobs.

Newcastle need big changes all over the team, there are only a few in there that are good enough. Defensively they are terrible and this is their biggest problem currently. Kev's certainly got his work cut out.

In Shay Given and Steven Taylor they have two players to base their defence on aswell. 4 or 5 signings in the summer I imagine, they could do with some quality in midfield almost as much.

act smiley Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Debatable, Allardyce had the money to do a lot more than he did - he was there to improve the defense, instead his signings played as ineptly as those already there (Smith has been dreadful, Viduka has been a passenger Geremi did nothing, to single out some of them. Only Habib Beye stands out as being good so far) and he merely wrecked the previously okay attack and didn't seem to show any signs of making any changes just keeping on at the same. They may not have been sliding down the table but they'd long since lost the initial bit of luck and were losing games left right and centre, and they played abysmally - they're still the only team to lose to Derby. If there's any argument for not sacking someone, its not Allardyce, who got them into this mess, its Roeder, who did a solid if unspectacular job in tough circumstances. I do think that it might not have been a really suitable time to bring in Keegan though, if they'd been able to get Mark Hughes I'd have said that he'd probably have done better.
