Would just like to know how everyone played. henderson - 6.5 not that much to do but seemed confident and secure stearman - 7 has improved alot since beginning of season in my opinion clapham- 7 fairly impressed but could have got crosses in first time rather than taking extra touch loosing some good oportunities as a result kisnorbo- 8- sound a good performance from him N'goty - 7 - looks a safer bet than McAuly to me did give the ball away dangerously once in first half though hume - 6- didnt really get in game much oakley-7- strong in midfield but did give ball away a bit clemence -7 - same as above on the whole hendrie-7.5- didnt know what to expect ,gave width but kept the ball, worked well with the clap and found dj;s runs.Lots of good things came from our left side specially first half howard- 7.5- impressive link and hold up play and unlucky not to score first half campball -7- not sure what to give him looked lacking in confidence when missing early sitter but made up for it with lots of good runs and his prescence and speed unsettled cardiff possibly helping with the og subs- why bring on 3 subs all at once when we are holding on at the end and just before injury time announced

Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Textbook away performance. No-one played poorly although our spell of dominance owed more to the left flank than the right. I was impressed with Clapham getting numerous balls into the box in the first half, we also quickly recognised they didn't know what the hell to do with DJ while Howard cleverly dropped off into space behind him. We wanted it more than them all over the pitch. Fantastic weekend. Hume perhaps a bit quiet and Henderson had nothing to do. Clapham, Kisnorbo, Hendrie and Clemence particularly impressive. A collective 7 really though. Thank you!

act smiley Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Henderson - 7. Didn't get put under pressure from crosses, so looked okay. Stearman - 7. Looked solid. Clapham- 8. Back to basics, solid, linked up with Hendrie well and passed it well. Kisnorbo- 8. A rock. N'gotty - 7 Not the best distribution but better than McAuley's, other than that played well. Hume - 6. Didn't really do that much, but was okay. Oakley 7. Smart passing. Clemence 7. Did a good job of recovering possession and playing sound passes. Hendrie 7. Good start. Howard- 7. Solid. Campbell -7. Did well, scared the hell out of Purse, pity he couldn't have scored that chance. Subs - fresh legs and timewasting, not much more they could do at that point.

Thank god he didn't have a shot to save Stearman 7- Defence had little to do but he was solid and tried to join in attacks N'Gotty 7- Looked decent, blocked most of what came his way. Kisnorbo 8.5- Probably our best player on the day, he was fantastic. Clapham 7- Joined in with attacks well, managed to get a number of crosses in. Well played again. Hume 7- Didn't receive the ball as much as most of the play was focused down the left but did what he had to do well enough. Oakley 7- Again like most of the others he looked generally solid and reassured. Clemence 7.5- A Clemence performance we need to see more of. Commanding in midfield with Oakley. Hendrie 7- Nice debut, did the simple things well and his passing looked good. Howard 7.5- Unlucky not to score in the first half bar a great Enckelman save. Won more than his fair share of headers and really added beef to our attack yesterday. Campbell 7- Didn't have his greatest game in front of goal, definitely should have scored at least one but his work rate and ability to cause the Cardiff defence problems were brilliant. They just didn't know how to deal with him.
Muz Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I'd give them 7's all round. Very good away performance and it looks as if Howard and DJ are getting abit of an understanding together aswell. I thought Hendrie played well and was very intelligent in the way he passed the ball, he did'nt just lump it up he tried to play it into the corner for DJ to get onto, which he did nearly everytime. The defence was pretty solid aswell. I thought that Clapham had a good game he tried to support Hendrie as much as possible. All in all a smashing day out, 1-0 on st davids day
syston_fox Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 Yup - Im gonna give them 7 all round as well. Special mention for Paul Henderson though - he's had his critics and hasnt been brilliant for us the last few times he's played but he came in yesterday and did all that was asked. Made one decent save in the first half when he was alert to come out and block a shot, claimed every cross within his reach and was straight out of his box to clear any over hit pass without any hesitation. The time he rushed out and headed away from the striker to Stearman on the right was textbook. Hope he can repeat it for the next few games he plays for us!

A cardiff fan's view of DJ, yest makes interesting reading: "Onto football matters that DJ Campbell ran rings around purse and Johnson yesterday . It was like a breath of fresh air to see a player with good movement and pace not the stereo typed 6 foot 4 inch power merchant that the championship teams are now producing . As for DJ campbell has he signed for them or on loan ? I think that was one of the best individual performances i,ve witnessed down ninian this season . pity it wasn't from a city player"

Stearman - 7.5 Kisnorbo - 7.5 N Gotty - 7 Clapham - 7.5 Hume - 7 Clemence - 7 Oakley - 7 Hendrie - 7.5 - Tidy performance. Some nice little balls, something we've lacked. DJ - 7.5 - Had the beating of there centre halves all match. Shame he didn't take his chance, he should have to be honest. Howard - 7 Subs Barry - 10
