Nick Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 You really ought to get out more You're right, I'm leaving now to go watch the boxing....... And to sit with people who really care about celebrity death, you, you, heartless, flippant individual. N.
coale39 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Like anyone here knew her.I'm sick of all the RIP bollocks - the woman is dead, the world is still turning. Did she cure cancer? Did she champion the rights of the world's poor? No - she read the ****ing news. So what? Big wow. Daggers, I understand how you feel about RIP threads. There are mostly boring and repetitive with most people just putting "rip". Not very interesting. However, this is a woman who contributed to society (unlike some who just sponge off it) and led people to comment with such things as "She couldn't have been kinder, more helpful and caring to someone like me". I'm sure there are people who have contributed more and been incredible selfless and had no one bat an eye lid. But, just because this woman was in the media spotlight and people know of her, does this not still demand our respect when shes dead? There's no harm in it. There's so many people that take as much as they can and give nothing back to society and are complete dicks. When a person dies and arnt a t**t, they will get a RIP from me. PS She wasnt just a news reader either she was also a magistrate. Admittedly she was stripped of that because of drink driving but her daughter had just died so I forgive her for that. Apologies if this post is a bit pretentious
StroudFox Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I'm not arguing, mearly pointing out that you said you'd be ignoring me. It seems that you are full of shit. Good use of smilie though - impressive. Carol would be very happy with the rolleye setiment, you are a beacon of virtue to us all. Sorry to interupt your argument but it is more of a metaphor than a simile!!
Bryn Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Every single forum that I ever go on someone takes the reverse moral highground and says its a joke that everyone says RIP. They usually don't do it with quite such venom though. If you disagreed with the thread and its posters why bother opening it? If a new member did this they'd be flamed and possible even banned on the spot. You just saw an opportunity to throw your e-presence about. And yes, I genuinely believe you care that much about this forum and are that sad. --- Can't actually remember her as a newsreader, though it's never a good thing to see a good person die.

Daggers Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 If you disagreed with the thread and its posters why bother opening it? Right - so we only contribute to threads where we agree with the title from here on? Great plan.
Simi Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Sorry to interupt your argument but it is more of a metaphor than a simile!! Sorry to piss on your parade but he meant smilie as in " "
Bryn Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Right - so we only contribute to threads where we agree with the title from here on?Great plan. Shove it up your arse, you can twist my words all you want. This isn't a case of "Who is our best midfielder lol", a woman died yesterday and some people felt a need to express sadness. You didn't. That's your call. But who gives you the fucking right to tell other people not to? Noone. So fuck right off, you march around this forum like you own it and it's really not as impressive as you think.

Are you really this thick?
Guest Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 a woman died yesterday and some people felt a need to express sadness. She wasn't the only one. People die all the time. People who do a lot more for society than someone who read the news and occasionally sat on the bench (Thracian might argue that's not doing anyone any good....). They don't get threads dedicated to their memory. Sad as it is for her family and friends, I'm sure it's no consolation that a load of random people she'd never met, and whose lives she never really affected, felt a need to "express sadness". If it was left to me, none of these threads would remain.
Bryn Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Jesus! Are you really this thick? Whatever then, you obtuse ****. You disagreed with something and you've brought it to ruin - there are words for people like that.
Guest Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Whatever then, you obtuse ****. You disagreed with something and you've brought it to ruin - there are words for people like that. Being insulting isn't helping your argument.
coale39 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I dont see the harm in people saying RIP about a well known woman. Its bad when people die so thats why people express sadness. They understand what their family is going through.
Guest Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 I dont see the harm in people saying RIP about a well known woman. Its bad when people die so thats why people express sadness. They understand what their family is going through. Like I said, people die all the time, and nobody notices. Does that make it any less sad, just because they are not a minor celebrity?
coale39 Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Like I said, people die all the time, and nobody notices. Does that make it any less sad, just because they are not a minor celebrity? The only reason people express sadness is because they "know" her and/or respect her. I agree she shouldnt deserve a thread over someone else that has died recently. But people didnt know them in anyway. Im neither for or against these threads. They just exist out of respect for someone that everyone/ a lot of people have been exposed to.
Zingari Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 some people were worried that the minutes silence at old trafford would be spoiled by a few mindless idiots ; with some of the logic and reasoning used on this thread i can now see why
Milky Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 It was the "good riddance" comment that got me going a bit.
Bryn Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Being insulting isn't helping your argument. Stating the facts. I take it his swipes are allowed?
Daggers Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Being insulting isn't helping your argument. I don't know - if it helps him works out his tortured grief at the loss of Carol (may little baby Jesus protect her) then at least he will experience a deep catharsis afterwards.
Guest Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Stating the facts. I take it his swipes are allowed? He's not trying to take the higher moral ground. I find the irony amusing. Well, slightly.
StroudFox Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Sorry to piss on your parade but he meant smilie as in " " Oh yeah, that was me not reading the comment properly. What an idiot!!!
accessory Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 Stating the facts. I take it his swipes are allowed? Of course they are. He's one of the "chosen men" on here. Forum rules don't apply to a person as special and important (and well-connected) as he is. Better learn that lesson very quickly...

Simi Posted 9 March 2008 Posted 9 March 2008 "Hes not the Messiah, hes a very naughty boy!" I know, he's not the messiah. Matty Fryatt is.
