Ibbyfox Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Well done Stevie Howard! You have proved us critics wrong. This week anyway. Pertinent point. He needs to do it more often, if not scoring then looking dangerous.
Smudge Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Thanks Steve, goals are hard to come by let alone hat tricks. You deserve every accolade tonight.
Ibbyfox Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Well done Stevie Howard! You have proved us critics wrong. This week anyway. That signature looks mighty familiar if slightly modified my friend!!
MPH Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Soooooooooooper sooooooooooooper Steve you might have to change your name....
renards Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Norwich game, we were playing to feet and he had a great game, holding ball up and creating/scoring goals. Maybe Fryatt made the difference today picking up ball in midfield and making passes to his feet. Be interesting to read reviews when fans return. Delighted when he signed, baffled when i saw him play. Holloway bought something without knowing how it works, hopefully he has now done his homework and know how he ticks. Great player if used right
Austin Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 His Stomach proved he was a blue HOWARD HOWARD He'll probably score a goal or 2 HOWARD HOWARD we saved the lad from the sheep He scores a hattrick everyweek .. STEVIE HOWARD CITY's NUMBER nin... urm 38. tune of "pigs go marching 2 by 2" gutted he's not number 9 ha
FilboFox Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 He needs to consistently play well and then I'll think he's a good City player... at the moment, he's scored a hat-trick in one game but most others he's been a stinking great pile of shit... If, in the last few games of the season he can improve on past performances or play like he did against West Brom, THEN and ONLY then will I rate him. More effort is needed in general as he is still a fairly lazy player...

Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 He has played consistently. Disagree with that. At Watford and Southampton he looked like a pub team player but in the big home wins he was excellent and he's just scored a hat-trick at WBA. I don't think Howard will ever be consistently great - there will always be games where his touch lets him down and he has no pace to fall back on, but his finishing when one-on-one is the best I've seen from a Leicester striker since Dickov.
FilboFox Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 He has played consistently. Suuuuuuuuure... hated one week for not putting in enough effort and looking like a fecking donkey and suddenly being a hero thanks to scoring a hat-trick... thats really consistent.
TrickyTrev Posted 16 March 2008 Posted 16 March 2008 Steve Howard is what Steve Howard is; an immobile carthorse with the touch of a rapist who can head the ball and has a decent finish. He is effective, to a point, in this division but why we paid £1.5m for him at the age of 29 I don't know. It also has to be noted that when he doesn't score he is gonna look shite, he's got nout else to his game. Glad he grabbed a hat-trick and hopefully he can tuck away a few more between now and the end of the season to keep us up.

He holds the ball up, lays it off to others, flicks balls on. He's never gonna run about after every ball like Hume or Dickov did, they are different players entirely.

He is our Peter Crouch in many ways, but players like Crouch and Howard are good to have in your team even when they play like shite.

He's 31, Trev. You'll be even more angry after reading that. Agree with what you say, luckily at this level those strengths of his mean he will still score goals at this level. We've seen players here that have supposedly great technique, yet can't score for shit, they flatter to deceive.
Tilley Posted 17 March 2008 Posted 17 March 2008 Before the game he was lazy, ueless and couldn't hit a barn door & people were saying drop him! Then he scores a hat trick and hes a hero He will probably be crap again come Hull, but I hope he proves us wrong and scores a few more between now and may. Well done Steve on your hat trick
