maddog Posted 21 March 2008 Posted 21 March 2008 In the last six seasons 4 of the bottom 7 teams have been in the Premiership. Whilst 4 of the top 6 have been in League 1/Division 2 when it was called that. Seems like the teams that have been down to League 1 are performing better in the Championship at the moment than the old Premiership teams of the likes of us Southampton, Coventry. Perhaps going down this season could benefit us in the long run Surely coming up from League 1 with a winning mentality into this division gives you more chance of promotion than performing badly in this division season after season?
DB11 Posted 21 March 2008 Posted 21 March 2008 Or we'd end up like Forest? I thought so. Why do you make these controversial suggestions...

Us going down doesn't guarantee us top-half Championship football in two years.
maddog Posted 21 March 2008 Author Posted 21 March 2008 It was just a suggestion based on the teams performing this season, especially Bristol City and Hull who were my tips for certain relegation at the start of the season.
Monk Posted 21 March 2008 Posted 21 March 2008 Nothing like a good positive post to start my weekend.....

Fox You Forest Posted 21 March 2008 Posted 21 March 2008 It was just a suggestion based on the teams performing this season, especially Bristol City and Hull who were my tips for certain relegation at the start of the season. Like us going for promotion also. If us going down to come back up and do well is another of you tips its most definetly a bad idea.

There are so many factors but it is so easy to make too many changes too quickly and to waste money on here today/gone tomorrow footballers who aren't worth it and to make too many team changes trying to accommodate too big a squad. It would also demonstrate how far you can go with things like an astute manager, focused hard work, a cracking team spirit and a far more settled team of good value footballers. If I had to a single most important reason for our underperformance this season it is the money we've wasted on a ridiculous turnover in players, many of whom were insufficiently and should never have been near a Leicester City team.
Bert Posted 22 March 2008 Posted 22 March 2008 Here's another fact - we've won the least corners this season.
