teblin Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 I thought the common sense substitutions were: Clem for mcauley or N'gotty and put clem centre mid push hendrie wide Fryatt for Campbell Etuhu for Hayles Leaving a more blanaced side like ollie has been harping on about. but no it wasn't too be, he swapped a left back for a left back.

I would have taken off Fryatt for Etuhu at half time. Campbell for Howard
Number1flanker Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 Good he can hop out of Leicester and find himself a new club (Tho who wud really want him ???)
Flynny Posted 23 March 2008 Posted 23 March 2008 Apart from Stearman when he got the chance there was no movement around them and no obvious passing options. With basically one up front in a 4-5-1 they could only pass sideways or backwards most of the time and what was the point of passing backwards if all that would lead to was another aimless hoof? People talk about needing experience in a crisis but I'm not in the least impressed. The only player performing consistently well in our relegation battle is youngster Stearman. Even minutes from the end with the game lost he was sprinting forward with all he had to get in their box. Yes he made mistakes but he was forever there to be counted, forever trying to make something happen. Alongside him I'd love to know how many McAuley passes actually found a City shirt. Or what Fryatt contributed at all? I agree with what you'd said, and I know you don't like him, but in the first half Clapham was one of our best players. Not second, but first half he was calling for the ball in space, staying wide, linking and overlapping with Hayles. It was good to see. I'm still ridiculously pissed off that that left side was messed with when it was the only thing we had going for us.

He's been a solid signing who has been one of the few who's consistently delivered of his best since he's been here. Clapham seems to be a tidy and reliable player and my concerns about him are that he simply doesn't make enough happen. He certainly tries to support attacks and occasionally even drives right forward as demonstrated when he almost won a penalty early on. But he's doesn't do it often and is therefore never likely to be a great danger. He doesn't get into shooting positions or deliver dangerous free-kicks but then neither does Mattock generally so I saw little point in the substitution and thought there were far more positive things Holloway could have done. Changing almost like for like was never likely to win us the game or even save a point.
