Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 I used to find the idea of aliens well exciting, until I realised that planets outside our crappy little bit of space are so far away (millions of millions of miles away) that the chances of anyone from them bothering to visit us are pretty small. If they were sophisticated enough to overcome the technological challenge of traversing distances that it takes light decades to travel, I doubt that they would take the time to travel to a planet where people spend £39.99 on a replica football shirt, eat microwave chips and listen to Razorlight. I also find it an amazing coincidence that these beings from billions of miles away look pretty much like us but with grey skin and big black eyes. With the infinitessimal possibilities of the universe, that's a bit of luck isn't it?

It may be authentic, I'm not ruling it out, but I find it hard to believe that aliens always look the same. It's always the big eyes and big forehead, ok, so we may have only encountered aliens from one planet, but why onlt one 'species'. Surely we would have had contact with other species from these planets. Also, how come aliens are always depicted as being more evolved than us?
