MP's Expenses - Are these acceptable?

Recommended Posts

I don't know things like the TV License anger me that should be an individual thing and should no way be picked up by the taxpayer and neither should utility bills, council tax, cleaning, food and provisions and household repairs it's pretty much a disgrace imo things like phone bills are slightly different and should probably be claimed on expenses as we are probably the employer and you could maybe say the same about some sort of food as well

but allowing them to claim for a cleaner to come in and tidy up because they are to idle to clean is shocking!!

maybe I have missed what happens to the houses when they stop being a politician and put them on the market do all the funds go back into the pot so to speak or do these MP's get to keep the profit on properties that we have been paying for the mortgage and upkeep of?

Whether they are acceptable or not, the fact is non of them have broken the law. And if your boss came into the office on a Monday morning and announced that you are going to be able to claim for cleaners, nannies, mortgage payments, furniture, S&M Nazi dungeons etc, then I'm pretty sure that 95% of the population (Myself included), would take these benefits.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that I don't think it's immorale, i just think that if it's there for the taking, take it.

In a weird warped way, it makes a nice change for a different class of people to bleed our system...

That's pretty much my take on it too.

Let's not hear any more bleatings from these parasites about how lowly paid they are. They are a bunch of self serving careerist spongers. That's the price we pay as a nation for being disinterested in politics.
