I personally like to laugh when I find something funny and not when I am told to I just can't stand that in a comedy show

That's why I can't watch American comedy. Say what you like about the British but we do quality comedy shows (Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers). My own opnion is that American comedy is quite simple, not subtle. I prefer subtle comedy.
