Boss wants more new faces

Leicester manager Craig Levein has declared himself pleased with his players' improving fitness but confessed the squad needs bolstering further.

Levein has already acquired Alan Maybury, Mark de Vries, Stephen Hughes, Paddy McCarthy and Lars Hirschfeld, plus loan players Darren Kenton and Stefan Moore, since arriving from Hearts in October.

The Scotsman said: "There's a lot more energy, a lot more legs in the team than when we first arrived. But we're striving to improve even more as quickly as we can.

"But we're still probably half a dozen players short of the squad I'd like to have - and maybe more."

We're going to see a few leave as well, lets hope this is the last player merry go round we see for a while.

it seems CL is very unhappy with the players fitness since he came here but can anyone remember MA saying before this season that the players were going to face the most gruelling pre season ever so that they would be fit all season long! Maybe Micky lost the plot earlier than we thought?

I certainly think we need to bring in at least 6 fresh faces for the next season, I'm confident Levein can bring in players that are good enough to challenge for promotion.

I remember someone of the messageboard on the OS saying that Micky Adams was getting the players to do the wrong kind of running. Not enough sprinting and too much long distance stuff. At the time I was still behind MA and was prepared to give him the 10 games he'd asked for. I think it was tough for some players that joined us late in pre-season to get their fitness up to a good level. Blake and Gudjonsson could've done with longer so they were behind everyone else but Joey caught up with himself.

Perhaps the players did what me and my mates used to do when the school sent us off on a cross country run (many moons ago )...stopped at the chippy!
