Daggers Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 Former OiNK user gets arrested31 May 2008 18:47 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 13 comments Former OiNK user gets arrested According to TorrentFreak, British police have arrested a former user of the private torrent tracker OiNK for uploading and seeding a single album. There was word that police are currently questioning others and more arrests seem likely. The popular tracker was shutdown in late 2007, and the British authorities made the claim that they would be investigating, not anti-piracy agencies such as the RIAA, MPAA, or BREIN. Until today though, no one has been charged with anything, that even includes OiNK founder and admin Alan Ellis. The man arrested, who was from the Cheshire area, was questioned and later released on police bail. He has no prior convictions or arrests and is in trouble for uploading a single album early last year. The bigger questions however, are why the arrest happened now, for such a trivial user, and whether the charges will stick. There was no commercial gain for the user, and his only crime may be that the album was a pre-release, meaning it hit the Internet days or weeks before the actual street date. A single album, huh? Blimey.
Flynny Posted 2 June 2008 Posted 2 June 2008 Did you have an account on Oink? I can't for the life of me find anything anywhere nearly as good.
Daggers Posted 2 June 2008 Author Posted 2 June 2008 Opened one, by the time I got around to using it they shut it down.
hairy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Did you have an account on Oink? I can't for the life of me find anything anywhere nearly as good. Waffles.fm and what.cd By the way the arrest story doesn't add up so I would imagine its nothing to worry about.
Flynny Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Not able to invite me to one of those fine establishments are you?
hairy Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 Not at the moment as I have no invites for either. But when I do I shall remember the request
lifted*fox Posted 3 June 2008 Posted 3 June 2008 oink was wonderful. oh those were the days. demonoid is back now, but the music section is shit poor. no structure to the uploading, it's all over the place. torrentech.org is great for rare electronic music. open to new members at the minute too i think.
Flynny Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Not at the moment as I have no invites for either. But when I do I shall remember the request  Cheers if you do. If not no worries, it was a bit cheeky in the first place.
Guest Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 I want an album that is no longer available. Only it is, at a cost of 15 Euros. So it's bound to be dodgy. I need help.
