Jonathan Hayes?

Just while everyone's getting all excited about wingers, pardon my ignorance, but does anyone know what's going on / gone on with Jonathan Hayes?

Did we release him, or is he coming back to the club to be in Pearson's squad next season? I wasn't convinced he was Championship quality but he certainly looked like another fairly confident, fairly mobile youngster ready to get a ball in?

Could be of interest in this divison? How did he fare at Northampton?

he was training in the pics on the OS!

From what i heard he didnt make an impression at the cobblers!!!

we have him, levi and now dyer competing. i cant say i know much about dyer but surely he cant be worser than those two

Still contracted. Until 2010 no less.

One would assume he'd be kept around. If he didn't set the league alight with Northampton, he's not likely to encourage many offers for his services.

My vapid prediction is that he'll be loaned out to League Two for a spell this season, where he previously appeared 11 times for MK Dons (all as sub).

Oddly enough, the only team for which he's scored a goal is Forest Green Rovers - in the Conference National. :ermm:

So it dosen't look to good for him then :(

I agree with Finnegan. I thought he was not bad when he played last season.

I'm not sure Hayes would make that much impression standing in a fresh cow pat.

From what I've seen he huffs and puffs but quickly runs out of steam or gets injured.

And, for an attacker who doesn't make much happen at first team level he doesn't seem to have the defensive awareness and reliability to get picked for his all round industry.

Perhaps now is his chance to prove me wrong.

I think the competition for that left spot will be healty for all who are involved.

We are talking about the same Porter that set up 2 goals against one of the best defenses in the country?

Porter will be a good asset in this league, not sure about hayes though never really seen him play.

Porter and Dyer will be battling it out tbhis season

with adams and gradel battling it out for the RM spot. i like the sound of that :D

Hope so, ive never really rated him that much, but i really hope he proves me wrong and plays a blinder this season!

Also isnt Adams able to play anywhere in midfield not just on the right?

He did say he can play in the centre aswel, but seemed pretty set on playing on the left in the interview.

I rate Levi, his performance against Chelsea before getting injured was pretty awesome, he ripped their defense apart. athow that was only one game. He very often got marked out of games the season before last.

However its all well and good having these wingers but if the defense cant pass it out to them, and we end up playing hoofball as we very often do it makes the signings inaffective, which is what has happened with players like Porter and even going as far back as the loanee from arsenal (cant remember his name for the life of me).

I just hope NP can get us playing so two touch football ON THE FLOOR. if we can get that going with passing triangles and killer crosses and through balls, we will rip this league apart.

NP has alot of work to do though.

He was by far a better left winger than Hume or Hayles.

This is not saying a lot. His appearances were way too brief to form an opinion and he was (at best) an average player at the Cobblers. I'm reckoning Lookydo has hit the nail head-on.

Ryan Smith - who hasn't exactly set the world alight since leaving us.

But can you really see any of the wasters still here from last season playing that type of game? I can't.. :(

NP has a lot of work to do though.

You're not kidding..

He told me that he was leaving for Northants.

But this was the same night Shush said he was staying, so don't believe a word. :@

He put in what was widely accepted to be the best cross of last season - does anyone remember it? The noise it made, christ, it was incredible. He looked better than most people we tried on the left - I don't know why we didn't persevere with him, and he should be alright at least in this league.

Agree!! Think Dyer will start, Porter and Hayes are very poor, will be squad players this season at best!

I'd give him a chance. He may have a bit more quality around him with us than Northampton
