Darkzzz_ Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/7493303.stm Fowler makes the move the join up with friend Paul Ince at ewood park. Excellent finisher in his day , but this is surely a step to far for Fowler. I hope I proved wrong.
Flynny Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 To play the Sheringham/West Ham role? Calm finisher off the bench? I can just about understand it but it's not very ambitious is it?
Jack Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 He's not good enough for the prem any more, strange decision.
Darkzzz_ Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 Who is next for Ince? Neil Ruddock, John Scales, Phil Babb and Rob Jones?? It hardly fills the Blackburn fans with any excitement. You watch Fowler shut me up.
bigneville Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Hard to believe. But give a chance to Robbie Fowler in the last few minutes of the game, and i'd expect him to score. Surely going to be a squad player. But no doubt, he'll be doing some coaching up there as well.
Alexikokopops Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Has anyone actually read the article? He's only there for pre-season training, no contract offer has been made yet.
Tilley Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Has anyone actually read the article? He's only there for pre-season training, no contract offer has been made yet. Ince has told him he has to prove his fitness if he is to be offered a contract, this is probably going to be the setback for Fowler. I don't expect him to be Premiership fit. & if he does end up signing then it is very strange signing for Ince & Blackburn Rovers,
Joe. Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Well this is pretty surprising really. I was one of those who thought Fowler would have been an excellent signing when he was linked with us last summer and I was very disappointed when he went to Cardiff. However, he's so injury prone nowadays that he's probably not worth the high wages anymore, despite whether he still has it or not. Ince has given him a chance to prove his fitness, whether he can take it or not is another thing.
MikeyT Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Very suprising. But i dont think he has what it takes anymore to play in the Premier league.
ousefox Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 He's only going cos he is one of ince's mates!! Will probably offered a coaching role!
Daggers Posted 13 July 2008 Posted 13 July 2008 I said he'd be shit if he signed for us then I said the same thing when he signed for Cardiff. He is nothing more than a name and related memories, he offers nothing anymore and I doubt he'd make a reasonable coach either. All of his interests lie outside of football, he is milking every last pound out of the game from people dumb enough to give them to him. Once he's finished pre-season with Blackburn some twat of a Chairman will vainly sign him up and bask in reflected glory from the boosted shirt sales before he sits on the bench for six months with a dodgy knee/ankle/fat arse.
