teblin Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 You'd like to think they could demolish this league, but we've witnessed some of their gilt edged chances they've missed and if their attitude isn't right then they'll continue to miss sitters like that. I think they need a bit of luck too, if they get a couple in successive game the confidence will sart to flow.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 1) pre-season means very little2) the guy scored against Quorn, thats Quorn from the unibond league they are sh1te I'd rather start players with high morale having banged them in against lesser opposition than start someone who is derided, hit the bar from a header and has missed a peno in pre season.

Come on Michael you can admit it it's OK, you'd rather start him just because he's Ricky Sappleton. We all share these feelings with you.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 What against Quorn - dont make me laugh. He can't pick what games he's selected in and he can only do his best when plays. And he performed well.
FilboFox Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Hmmm... if we bring in no strikers, that'll worry me. What was the problem last season? Letting them in or scoring them? We had one of the best defences in the league last year and yes, although we did need to sign some more players at the back following injuries and rats jumping ship, I wouldn't have thought that we needed to sign a lot... then again, Pearson, Taggart AND Walsh will be better judges than me of what needs to be done at the back... but as for up front... well... Fryatt - Hardly played last season and wasn't very good when he did. Hayles - Useless bar a feew lucky shots that managed to fall in (a-la Crystal Palace style) Howard - Don't get me started on this donkey! Campbell - I still think he'll come good at some point but my patience is waring thin... last year he was poor and wasted many a chance. Doesn't bode well if we are sticking with that bunch. Then again, a new found confidence might make them a potent strike force in this division... but I'd still like to see the back of Hayles and Howard. Edit: Sappleton... had forgetten about him and the other youngsters then... he could be our new Heskey if he breaks into the squad so I'd give him a good chance... along with Chambers who has fantastic pace... and is a BEAST for me on FM!
Candidcamera Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Agreed. The platform is empty as far as I am concerned but the train is coming...
