Haven't listened to it yet (cus I've only just got back, but I'm very excited :thumbsup: I've heard "It Ended On An Oily Stage" though cus I have the singles and it's got me even more excited about this album

Now THAT was a gig Ha, I just read this in the latest newsletter: British Sea Power album Open Season has entered the UK album chart with a midweek position of number eight. Lo, how the jamwagon rolls forward. BSP could not match the well-scrubbed Natalie Imbruglia, whose new album entered the charts at number one. Or Maria Carey, getting ready to buy an emerald-encrusted horse-box at number four. However, BSP are sat teasingly in front of Mr Morrissey, whose new live album made its chart debut at number 11. BSP mean no disrespect in moving ahead of the great Manchester crime enthusiast. We mean, BSP are also to the fore of the Official Mary Poppins Soundtrack (number 88) and that was made by a lady who can fly aided only by umbrella. It’s just that the world has joyously been tilted on its axis. Soon Kate Bush will be crowned Queen of England and Eamon will be recognised as autonomous EEC state.

British Sea Power on the other hand are just the kind of querky guitar band full of innovation that I love! Their stage show is even better than their music and as a result they put on a fine live performance. Having said that I heard the new single for the first time on Tuesday and I thought it was very average.

It doesn't seem to have an amazing, slightly 'heavier' song like 'Apologies to insect life' that's why I was a bit apprehensive. They are confirmed for Summer Sundae at de montfort hall by the way - I WILL BE THERE!

'Less shrill than Kasabian, not as dull as Bloc Party, richer in texture than Franz Ferdinand... The sound of a band coming to terms with just how much they can offer.'4/5, John Aizlewood in the Evening Standard. I like all the bands mentioned and agree entirely. And they managed to release a 2nd album better than the first which is next to unheard of lately.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 18 March 2007 Posted 18 March 2007 Saw them top the bill when I went to see iLiKETRAiNS. Thought they were rubbish, even though I own (and like) their first LP. They are all short arses as well. "Small people got no reason to live...."
