ronnup Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 Now then, I'm of to this festival on saturday... http://www.fielddayfestivals.com/lineup/ and due to my reluctance to properly explore the music scene have not heard of many of the acts. I know I like Richie Hawtin, Of Montreal, Foals, Howling Bells and Noah and the Whale, but i'm not sure if there's anything ekse i should really check out for sure. Any help from you shmoozers would be great. (And yes, I am missing the game, My seat will be empty in my honour).
James. Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 I'm going to this! Asked a similar question about it in the Festivals thread. I really haven't heard of many of the artists either which is surprising given that a lot of people are raving about the line up. I can personally recommend Benga (for some dubstep, if you like bass you'll love Benga) and Simian Mobile Disco for some wicked electro house type affairs.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 I love Jeffrey Lewis, although he's not everyone's cup of tea - it depends if he's in folky/quirky mood or raucous punk mode. I'd never heard them before, but my mate was playing a Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve CD in the car the other day and there was some great stuff on there, so I'd say check them out
act smiley Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 Not seen them live, but I do rather like what I've heard from Efterklang.
Jay Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 of montreal and I like Les Savy Fav they are supposed to be brilliant live with the lead singer being totally mental on stage they are the ones I would look out for in terms of the bands and on that bill although Les Savy Fav have a pretty punky/Hardocre sound
lcfcrinaldi Posted 6 August 2008 Posted 6 August 2008 Mystery Jets are pretty wicked, Laura Marling if you wanna chill out shes got an awesom voice, The Mae-Shi they just make some noise, White Lies are like a better Editors with spooky lyrics and that i know the drummer, Lightspeed Champion legend. so yer see them and you will be laughin.

Jordan Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 I've seen Les Savy Fav a few times and it's always been a fun time. I recommend them highly.

Think the Mystery Jets have pulled out. Looks like a lot of the same groups that are playing at summer sundae.
