Stuliasz Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 One half of football was all it took for Max Gradel to seal the online man of the match award away at Premiership side Fulham after the 3-2 defeat on Wednesday evening. Gradel came on at half time and seemed to take the second half by storm as he claimed his second man of the match award of the season. Winger Lloyd Dyer managed to claim a second place spot and veteran Paul Dickov rounded off the top three. Matty Fryatt seemed to make less of an impact in his 45 minutes of player ending with the flop of the match award. (Note. 45 mins is the minimum to be considered for these awards). lildave3 Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Huzzah! Fryatt with a true rating! And I didn't even vote!
Uncle Albert Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Morrison's and Weso's rating's are pretty harsh.
Jimmy Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Morrison's and Weso's rating's are pretty harsh. Morrison maybe, but Weso did nothing
JoeyB Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 God i was harsh :: TBH i think that for the next few weeks gradel will be best used as a sub,(coming on at HT, he will do exactly the same as he did against Fulham but get far more joy, as cheltenhams fitness levels will be no where near as good as fulhams, so if he comes on with fress legs, he can run the RB ragged and we will hopefully get more goals.) Thus giving him more experience which is what i think he needs.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Morrison maybe, but Weso did nothing Righto.
Tevez Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Morrison maybe, but Weso did nothing Of course Weso did nothing. He didn't run a midfield with Andy King against a team that is two divisions higher up against us.

JoeyB Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Why are Cheltenham players not going to be as fit as Fulham players? Prem and League one fitness gaps are loads different.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 No way was Tunchev our 7th best player IMO. He's been massively underrated there I think.
Jimmy Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Of course Weso did nothing. He didn't run a midfield with Andy King against a team that is two divisions higher up against us. by nothing I meant nothing of note, ie I hardly noticed he was playing, so an average of around 6 is about right Prem and League one fitness gaps are loads different. not as big as you think in the modern game where almost every club has a specialist fitness training system, especially this early in the season, but either way not starting Gradel, unless injured is handicapping ourselves needlessly
Uncle Albert Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 by nothing I meant nothing of note, ie I hardly noticed he was playing, so an average of around 6 is about right Nothing of note? He won alot of tackles that stopped promising attacks for Fulham through Bullard and Murphy. Weso kept them very, very quiet until the last 10 minutes.
lildave3 Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Prem and League one fitness gaps are loads different. Nonsense. A slight difference, maybe. But not much at all.
Simi Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Nonsense.A slight difference, maybe. But not much at all. I think you'll find the gap is quite big mate.
Jimmy Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 I think you'll find the gap is quite big mate. I wouldn't say our fitness levels were massively lower then Fulham's
Tevez Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Our back 4 should of got 8/9 at least. They all were fooking quality.
Koke Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Our back 4 should of got 8/9 at least. They all were fooking quality. I was a bit worried about Morrison. Gilbert was his usual good self, and Powell more than held his own out there. And I agree with Fez, Tunchev is being massively under-rated here.

Tunchev didn't get any ratings below a 6 if that is any consolation. EDIT: and on the other hand only one person voted him a 9 (no 10's)
lildave3 Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 I think you'll find the gap is quite big mate. Why though?
JoeyB Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Why though? Premier league is of a higher standard, quicker paced, so you need to be fitter to keep up with it

Do you think it might be a good idea to put the rating scale on the first post? Some of the ratings are obviously on the high side and giving people an idea of what a player has to do to get an 8 or 9 may help make the ratings more accurate.
Simi Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 Why though? Several reasons really. Bigger teams have more advanced trainers/coaches More advanced equipment and dietry information The demand to play in the Premier League is higher, the pace is much quicker A lot of the players have to compete on International level meaning more demanding matches
