I've seen reports on here about stores selling the game early and so want to clear up the activation of the game issue.

In the interests of fairness for both retailers and players we have made the decision to turn on the authentication / activation system for street date of 14th November. That decision was taken to try to give everyone a level playing field, for retailers it should mean that there is less incentive to break street date and less disadvantage that do the responsible thing and sell the game on the day of release. For players it means that everyone gets to play the game at the same time and those that have bought or pre-ordered from retailers that hold to the release date aren't left in a position where they wait for their copy whilst others are playing the game.

Despite this, it seems that some retailers are selling the game already. That's disappointing for us as it causes problems and disappointment for the people buying the game, as they won't be able to play it until the release date.

To those that have already bought copies of the game I apologise for the frustration having the game but not playing will cause. It wasn't supposed to be a position you would find yourself in, and I can only ask for your patience in waiting until the release date to play the game. For those of you that will see the game on sale before the 14th, please again understand that you won't be able to play it until release date.

All I can say is that this is done with the best of intentions for you, for the retailers, and to protect the game itself. Please believe me when I say I know how frustrating the situation is, I've been working on the marketing for the game for months and months (we shot the pack image back in May) and I can't wait to actually play the game. I have copies of the game under my desk and I cannot play them for the same reason you can't, and that is the 100% honest truth. Until Friday please continue to play the demo and, when Friday comes round, I hope you enjoy playing the full game as much as I will.

You have to activate your game online either through Steam or some other site. Therefore they just block it.

Due to this Press Release

The authentication servers are now live for PC users.

We highly advise people to authenticate through the STEAM platform, as with STEAM installed you will get automatic updates, the first of which is already uploaded and ready to go via STEAM.

Updates for non-STEAM platforms, for those who choose to authenticate through Uniloc online, or via telephone, will be available in the next few hours, and links will be posted here. The torrent file will come next, followed by direct downloads, and this thread will be updated.

If you wish to mirror the update, feel free, but please email where the mirror information to [email protected], NOT on this thread, so that we can verify and update this thread with that info.

Please note that whilst the update will allow many people with below minimum spec machines / graphics cards who had problems with the demo to get the game up and running, some below-spec graphics cards may require the DirectX 9.0 SDK is installed to run the game. We have been unable to test this on every graphics card on the market as, well, we don't have all of them, but this should fix the problem for the majority of those with below spec machines. If we find some that are still not up and running, we will look into these issues in the coming weeks.

Please also note that for those who want to get the demo up and running on their below minimum spec machines before purchasing, we are still planning on releasing a compatability patch for the demo, and this will follow in the coming days. We do not have a firm date for this as yet.

Mac users - it has not been possible to get the Mac update through our and SEGA's QA department in time for release tonight. We still plan to release this at some point tomorrow (Friday), and will update when we have more information.

IMPORTANT ACTIVATION INFORMATION

When activating your copy of the game. Zero's and O's are virtually identical in appearance on the code itself.

If you are still having trouble, I'm afraid it's a case of trial and error.

Apologies and hope you don't have too many Zero's (O's) in your code.

The player interactions are good, you can tell players to do particular things to do e.g. take it around the keeper when one on one, or tell them to chip the keeper.

You can also tell them to stop argueing with officials! lol

My PC won't let me play the demo as It couldn't load the graphics. I'm not bothered about th3d really, I just want to play the game.

Just knocked Charlton out of the league cup in the 2nd round on penalties at th valley, after grinding out a 0-0. Although Beckford did crack the bar!

I hope mine comes today. FM09 and COD5 were both dispatched together from Play.com but COD5 came Wednesday so FM09 had best come today!!!
