fox123 Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 I love pure music, one man and his instrument if you will, discovered Boyceavenue on Youtube this evening and was quite impressed with his acoustic covers, below being in my top 3 What a brilliant rendition of Viva La Vida, I would go so far to say that I prefer this version to the Coldplay version!
Jay Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 I know what you mean I do remember someone can't remember who it was saying that it doesn't matter what song it is but if you can't strip it down to one man and a guitar then it isn't a good song.

Agreed. Here's another quality song this time a rendition of, 'How to save a life'
syston_fox Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 That's why Newton Faulkner is such an awesome live act. He just bounces on stage full of energy with his guitar in hand and plays while interacting with the crowd. No fireworks and posh lights and no fancy gimmicks - just one man and his talents! (I know he's not to everyones taste but he is one hell of a guitarist if you could see him first hand) Oh and that Viva la vida is absolute quality!
Mark Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 I long to be just half as good a guitarist and singer as this man
AoWW Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 I love acoustic versions of many, many songs. One of the things I've always wished for is that someday someone will write me a song and sing/play it to me. I live in hope that one day I'll meet the right person who'll take the hint.

Libertine Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Mark, I'd appreciate some recommendations on other tracks to check out by Owen.
Finnegan Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 I long to be just half as good a guitarist and singer as this man Fair play on the guitar part, but I find his voice like nails on a chalkboard. This is a bit more to my tastes.
Mark Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Mark, I'd appreciate some recommendations on other tracks to check out by Owen. Every song is beautiful IMO, just have to stick with some songs till the end when they're worth it (guitar). start with "At Home With Owen" and work your way back. My favourite songs are Note to Self and Everyone Feels Like You. He was also the singer/guitarist of American Football who I can't recommend highly enough, my song on FXT factor
Joe. Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 I love acoustic tracks, they're probably my favourite kind of song. Not just acoustic versions of songs that were intentionally non-acoustic, but tracks that include simply just guitar and no vocals. Playing the guitar myself I think you can appreciate the music even more.
Lamby Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S79ZagD5ek Better than the original version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNLHhE5KPWg As well

Libertine Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Check out Kaki King for more of that kind of thing. Also, cheers Mark. I'll get right on it.
Joe. Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 The bottom one is Andy Mckee, I've seen him live twice. Currently learning and almost completed a song by him called Rylynn, love it.

Joe. Posted 29 September 2008 Posted 29 September 2008 Andy McKee uses some crazy harp guitar on a few of his songs, it's very unique and worth a watch on Youtube. My favourite song of his using it is called 'Gates of Gnomeria' - watch it all the way through because it starts off slow and then gets into it.
