ASH17LCFC Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 thats my point I saw some muppet from the kick it out campaign banging on about how it (racism) had no place in football - fair enough but i didnt hear the Spurs fans chant anything race related at Sol? Rangers are bad for it ...
SussexFox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Rangers are bad for it ... and? ps plenty of sectarianism from the other side of Glasgow as well
potter3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 thats my point I saw some muppet from the kick it out campaign banging on about how it (racism) had no place in football - fair enough but i didnt hear the Spurs fans chant anything race related at Sol? no it was homophobic Sol, Sol, wherever you may be Not long now 'til lunacy And we won't give a **** when you're hangin' from a tree You Judas **** with HIV. You could argue that it's racist and homophobic
lildave3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 no it was homophobic Sol, Sol, wherever you may be Not long now 'til lunacy And we won't give a **** when you're hangin' from a tree You Judas **** with HIV. You could argue that it's racist and homophobic How is that racist?
Head Honcho Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Unless it was racist I don't really see what the problem is, its a football match, I fear everything is becoming illegal in england. Maybe we should all come up with friendly and PC songs. Why is homophobic chanting ok yet racist chanting not?
SussexFox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 no it was homophobic Sol, Sol, wherever you may be Not long now 'til lunacy And we won't give a **** when you're hangin' from a tree You Judas **** with HIV. You could argue that it's racist and homophobic I can't see one racist aspect to that?
ASH17LCFC Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 How is that racist? Am i the only one on the weekend who laughed at the abuse, the Spurs fans touch a nerve i thought.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 How is that racist? There is a tentative link with the hanging from a tree and what happened to black people in the southern states of the USA when slave trade was rife. Possibly
SussexFox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Why is homophobic chanting ok yet racist chanting not? so how far do we go? Ban everything? this countries getting ridiculous
lildave3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 There is a tentative link with the hanging from a tree and what happened to black people in the southern states of the USA when slave trade was rife.Possibly I was thinking that was more to do the fact they were implying he was going insane, and the fact that 'tree' rhymes with 'lunacy'. I don't think Spurs fan are that smart.
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 There is a tentative link with the hanging from a tree and what happened to black people in the southern states of the USA when slave trade was rife.Possibly or they're calling him a monkey?
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 so how far do we go? Ban everything? this countries getting ridiculous yes stopping homophobic and racist abuse really is PC gone mad
SussexFox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 all its saying is he's going mad and will end up hanging himself - thats it
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 What?! black players, including Bruno in Croatia often get monkey chants directed at them, its not that hard to understand
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 In-depth analysis here. ****ing hell. Some football songs go over the top. Here's an example. I bet a lot of people on here have joined in with a racist song about Freddy Eastwood in the past without giving it much thought.
lildave3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 black players, including Bruno in Croatia often get monkey chants directed at them, its not that hard to understand Yeah, but I imagine it's not that. Love how Dan comes out with this logical answer, I come out with a half logical answer, and you just come out with that. Made me laugh anyway.
Head Honcho Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 or they're calling him a monkey? Why did you specify the word "Monkey" ? Unless you associate all black people with Monkeys!
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Yeah, but I imagine it's not that. Love how Dan comes out with this logical answer, I come out with a half logical answer, and you just come out with that. Made me laugh anyway. I'm not saying that's what they were doing, but that is how it could be interpreted by people as racist, as the person who asked requested Why did you specify the word "Monkey" ?Unless you associate all black people with Monkeys! from the phrase "hanging from a tree"
SussexFox Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 yes stopping homophobic and racist abuse really is PC gone mad theres an obvious difference in what the Spurs fans were chanting and people making monkey noises at black players etc I didn't mean i condone racism in football the Spurs fans were not being racist or particularly homophobic - they hate sol cos he ran down his contract at Spurs then moved to their North London rivals no other reason
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 theres an obvious difference in what the Spurs fans were chanting and people making monkey noises at black players etc I didn't mean i condone racism in footballthe Spurs fans were not being racist or particularly homophobic - they hate sol cos he ran down his contract at Spurs then moved to their North London rivals no other reason well i misinterpreted your comments then
Head Honcho Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I'm not saying that's what they were doing, but that is how it could be interpreted by people as racist, as the person who asked requestedfrom the phrase "hanging from a tree" Monkeys probably make up less then 1% of animals that hang from trees so why did you specify "monkey"
lildave3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 theres an obvious difference in what the Spurs fans were chanting and people making monkey noises at black players etc I didn't mean i condone racism in footballthe Spurs fans were not being racist or particularly homophobic - they hate sol cos he ran down his contract at Spurs then moved to their North London rivals no other reason Yup.
Jimmy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Monkeys probably make up less then 1% of animals that hang from trees so why did you specify "monkey" are you just trying to be a pr1ck? idiotic football fans sometimes subject black players to racist abuse by making monkey noises, the question was asked, "how could that be seen as racist" I simply stated an example of an argument that could be used
