Lillehamring Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009  BEST.FILM. EVER! Grade 3 and Jazz Grade 1 on alto sax. Haven't played for a couple of years though. which immediately makes me think of...
Monk Posted 25 February 2009 Author Posted 25 February 2009 I HATE the B chord! for a lot of these songs I actually stick a capo on 2 and play a C instead! Got my acoustic amp in my new place after it being at my parents for 6 months. So pleased, makes an awesome sound.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 My rig, i have lots of other guitars/amps/pedals and stuff but this is the one i am running through most of the time. Sorry for taking up so much room, couldn't find any smaller pictures, i also have a Kustom Quad JR 100DFX half stack, a Zoom GFX 707 multi FX pedal, a Boss TU - 2 Chromatic Tuner, a Marshalls Park Series (30W), a Fender Bass Rumble (25W), a BC Rich Warbeast 1 (custom), a Tanglewood Acoustic, a Fender Squier Strat and a Fender Jazz Bass i would picture it all together in its mighty glory but i don't have any photo's and my camera is broke, plus a load of it is at a mates at the moment.
Fosse Boy Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 which immediately makes me think of... I wish I could play any woodwind instrument like Ron Burgundy!
Libertine Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 well, if you learn all the combinations as a barre chord, all you need to do is transpose the barre - i think i could play pretty much any chord on a piano (although i'd have to think about certain keys and some of the stupidly jazzy chords....) but diminished and semi-deminished chords are tricky on the guitar, there is a slidable diminished chord but i can never work out which fret is which key... on the piano it's just like maths, you remember the pattern or the formula, ie a m6 chord is just 1,m3,5,6 notes in the scale whether it is c or g# - god damn, now i want to go play piano Exactly. You don't need to learn ALL the chords, you just need to know how to make them. Bass player = failed guitarist. Fact. Yeh, right. Everyone plays guitar, it's hardly original. There are plenty of amazingly talented bass players out there. I HATE the B chord! for a lot of these songs I actually stick a capo on 2 and play a C instead! Fail.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 i forgot to put in my multitrack recorder i also run Steinburg Cubase and Audacity, which may be free but is brilliant, on my laptop
Joe. Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Yeh, right. Everyone plays guitar, it's hardly original. There are plenty of amazingly talented bass players out there. Course there are, I was only messing anyway. There are some insane base guitarists out there without a doubt. I don't really do amuch electrical guitar-wise, I have an electric (albeit shit) but I much prefer my acoustics.

Lillehamring Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 my, ahem, rig.... i really should play more guitar...

Hmmm not though of doing that before. I play 'Marblehead Johnson' by the bluetones quite often and this is one of the main chords so I'm used to that. Just to clarify, I can actually PLAY a B no problem but I struggle to switch to it from other chords.
ACF Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 I have been playing Piano for8 years, and I'm only 14

Just to clarify, I can actually PLAY a B no problem but I struggle to switch to it from other chords. it can be a bit of a bitch, i hate barre chords, i can play them but can't hold them for too long, so i mostly play open chords... most of my songwriting doesn't suit barre chords much anyway, i tend to have a lot of open strings as i mainly play acoustic, however i do get stuck when i need to go to chords like Eb or Ab as you can't really play them without barring or playing really tricky chords.

Monk Posted 26 February 2009 Author Posted 26 February 2009 Yep! I love the opening riff.... pretty easy to play and always sounds good.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 what i am currently looking at buying, the awe inspiring JCM2000 Stack i'm also looking at getting some boutique pedals, my DFX is amazing (boss gt - 10 is one of the most analogue and original sounding DFX pedals there is) and i love it but for a side project i just need that more edgy sound you only get from boutique pedals. 12 years i've been playing guitar now, and piano for 13, i am 17 years old give or take half a year
