GLC Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Yea exactly the same from me I turned up at St. Mags for my first game and i'm pretty confident people would of thought I was a dick because of how I am on FT. But I got on with it and got involved with most of the people. This match has had a right dampner put on it just because we agreed on only having 15 players in our squad for the game and people who arent even in our age bracket are moaning. im looking forward to meeting everyone and getting laughed at
fox123 Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 I would encourage anyone to come along, really. Especially if they've been rucking on here. I really, really hope fox123 (for example) comes along and realizes that we're just a bunch of fairly normal people - and visa versa. For that reason I'd be really involving as far as DB11 and Shingler are concerned. HOWEVER I think there's a massive difference in maturity between the likes of Ultra, Thracian, TPH, fox123, Daggers etc and younger chaps on the forum. And that's not just the two young outcasts in question, but the Cheds, Joes, JMEs, Alberts and co of this world - too. And if you can't come and turn up without the chip-on-shoulder, without being willing to take the piss out of yourself a bit and acknowledge you've been a goober - then I wouldn't show up. If someone were to say to fox123 that they'd rather he didn't go (and I really hope this wouldn't be the case) I trust he'd be mature enough to at very least understand why. I think the mere fact, Jake, you don't quite "get" why people would be less keen to see you there and - more than that - play alongside you, sort of illustrates my point entirely. So look inside yourself. You want to turn up? Turn up. Just don't expect everyone to be involving if you're going to turn up in denial. Was think of having 'Potential' on the back of me shirt
Tevez Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 That "Bit of Bottle" which is required can take some people alot, it's like lads who's just turned 18 going to a pub with locals staring at you dodgy.People might feel uneasy introducing themselves if that's what I'm saying, trust me everyone at Shinglers age would lack the bottle and character which is required to introduce them selves. So what if people has arguements on here? Isn't a forum a place for opinion's and discussion? Obviously not.
Finnegan Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 My only issue with the Under 21s is if you start being exclusive. As far as I'm concerned, it isn't your team - it's Foxes Talk's team. There is no "us and them", it's just everyone. Everyone under the age of 21 has the right to turn up and play. Now we all know that, in practice, the same people will turn up for more or less every game and I think as a group we've been fairly willing to prioritize those that are reliable and regular. But when certain individuals take it upon themselves to excessively limit numbers or tell others they can't play I think that's when you're starting to lose sight of the general idea. Of course there has to be a cut off somewhere, we can't have 30 v 30. But just let's exercise a bit of common sense and keep the general spirit of the affair in tact, that's my one wish.

Bert has said pleanty of times we are having a limited squad and if people drop out then people will be called up. If they put there names down early enough in the thread then they would have been able to play and other people wont be able to play. That's their fault, simple as.

If it wern't for Bert texting/pm'ing us then I don't think their would be the games and laughs we have. In my opinion, having 14/15 players is the right number, why take a large number when it's going to be roll on roll off it's not really going to attract them to come again when they have having to substitute twice. It's just bad luck, I'm sure many other opportunities will come, take a look at the Talking Balls match. Involving new players due to unavailability. You can't really say that people haven't been given opportunies, what we had? 5/6 games now? Especially with the Tournament it was a great chance to get involved with us and them.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 The general spirit of this forum is banter but some people don't want the banter from the Alberts, Cheds, JMEs and Joes down there.
Koke Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 At the end of the day, we are all a bunch of old tits attempting to play football. I do agree with Finners though.
allard7 Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Why doesnt bert name some reserves for the team anyway, i mean whats the point in argueing, people will turn up if they want and people wont if they dont want to.
JakeShingler Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 To be honest i'm not going to show up giving it the big un beacause for 1- i'm a about 5ft 5 and 2- i am a bit shy i just wanted to turn up have a laugh and meet the peaple i have been talking to/winding up this past year.

Tevez Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Debate is sharing knowledge - arguing is ignorance Why don't you pass on the message to the many numbers of people that have had an arguement on here. And not just me.

Finnegan Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 The general spirit of this forum is banter but some people don't want the banter from the Alberts, Cheds, JMEs and Joes down there. I think you're either a bit of a sensitive lad or you're going out of your way to interpret what I'm saying as offensive. I think Ched and Joe are a good laugh and I enjoyed Jamie's company during the cup final last year. Don't think I've ever spoken a word to yourself but I imagine you're a sound enough chap yourself in person. All I mean to imply is that the younger, fightier members of this forum are more likely to hold a grudge and carry a chip on their shoulder in real life than the likes of Tony and Ultra and that, for example, their recent shared drinks with TPH might not have gone off with the same cordial nature as if they were sixteen or seventeen.
syston_fox Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 That just proves you need to get to no me. Which is why you should drag yourself to the game regardless of whether you play or not!
fox123 Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 Just to slightly divert (excuse the pun) but does anyone want a lift from town?

You dont even know us well enough to say that we will hold grudge's going into a football match. You think I will purposely show upto this match to try and continue a grudge with someone? Jesus christ. I was looking forward to this game but it's going downhill now.
Tevez Posted 9 January 2009 Posted 9 January 2009 In other news, I seriously am a doubt. I know I've been a wind-up merchant but I really am.
