Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 January 2009 Posted 17 January 2009 He's definitely had an absolutely phenomenal year I'm pleased at least one person agrees with me!
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 January 2009 Posted 17 January 2009 Gerrard for me loses the ball too much, fair enough, most of the time he goes and wins the ball back, but if you count the amount of times he loses the ball during most of Liverpool or England's matches, its pretty frightening that people can put him in the same class as Xavi, Messi, and the like. Exactly. I have seen so many games he has give the ball away, not just me, many people I talk to about football say the same thing about him. He is a great player, a match winner, we can all agree on that for sure, just not the best in the world. You have to analyse each of these players to really form an opinion. I don't care what the "Premiership" fans say, not really interested, I am just telling it how I see it. Delusion topped by a little bit of Sky Sports.... pffffffttttt
StanSP Posted 17 January 2009 Posted 17 January 2009 I think Messi is having a quality season. So for me at the moment, he is the best player on the planet. And Nathko, I messaged you about a sig...any chance you could do it?
ousefox Posted 17 January 2009 Posted 17 January 2009 Gerrard is still the pound for pound best midfielder in the World, by far. If I could buy one player in the World it would be Gerrard and build my team around him. He gets you goals, assists, brilliant captain and all the attributes you need in the game. I cant think off a fault he he has in his footballing game. Definately agree.
sdb Posted 17 January 2009 Posted 17 January 2009 Joey Barton had a better year hilarious. i'm not saying he's the best in the world but atm (and during his time at Sevilla) Alves is playing great. Do the best players have to be attacking midfielders??
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 January 2009 Posted 18 January 2009 hilarious. i'm not saying he's the best in the world but atm (and during his time at Sevilla) Alves is playing great. Do the best players have to be attacking midfielders?? Fully agree, he's a phenomenal player when on form. Fittest player in world football, surely? Like Cafu on speed. There is no-one else quite like him. I thought he started the season quite poorly at Barca but in recent weeks he's been sensational and topping his Sevilla form.

The outside of the boot cross for the henry goal last night was world class. Very good player.
