Jordan Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 Oh, isn't that lovely... SNOW SHOULD OVERSPREAD THE AREA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT... AND COULD BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES DURING WEDNESDAY MORNING... WITH ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES POSSIBLE. Oh, don't get me wrong, the summer is great here... but we have to EARN it. I feel like I'm going through the fooking menopause when it gets to the upper 30s. That's no good; most women get it when they're around 50

Guest Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 I'm thinking of banning antipodeans from this forum if all they're going to do is boast about how nice and warm it is.

City Lad Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 was it you on radio leicester today? if so welcome to our fair city.
hairy Posted 27 January 2009 Posted 27 January 2009 The antipodes refer to lands and peoples located on the opposite side of the world compared to the speaker.[1] This has a general, linguistic meaning and a technical, geographical meaning. In geography, the antipodes (from Greek αντίποδες,[2] from anti- "opposed" and pous "foot"; pronounced /ænˈtɪpəˌdiːz/) of any place on Earth is its antipodal point; that is, the region on the Earth's surface which is diametrically opposite to it. Two points which are antipodal [ænˈtɪpədəl] to one another are connected by a straight line through the centre of the Earth. In the British Isles, "The Antipodes" is sometimes used to refer to Australia and New Zealand, and "Antipodeans" to their inhabitants.[3] By contrast, under the geographical definition, the antipodes of the British Isles are in the Pacific Ocean, south of New Zealand. The antipodes of Australia are in the North Atlantic Ocean, while parts of Spain, Portugal, and Morocco are antipodal to New Zealand.
