Anish Posted 23 April 2005 Posted 23 April 2005 I think something has happened or Levein has suddenly changed his opinion on Stewart for some reason or another. Considering we have a dearth of left sided players (Maybury is NOT a LB despite what Levein may think) I think it's odd that Stewart wasn't on the bench at Sunderland.

Never rated him, although it was wrong for some fans to boo him.
Northy!blue4ever Posted 25 April 2005 Posted 25 April 2005 jordo is a great player but tiatto wins i for me on the left side!!
jordo11 Posted 25 April 2005 Posted 25 April 2005 well tiatto is not very good to be honist because he does not give us that width and crosser of the ball that stewart provides
Scow Posted 25 April 2005 Posted 25 April 2005 Jordan and tiato teamed up realy well 98605 I agree with that. At least Stewart would maintain his position on the left and put crosses in, albeit not very successfully. They started to develop a good understanding between them, and would often know what sort of runs each other were making.
Chimp Posted 25 April 2005 Posted 25 April 2005 Jordan and tiato teamed up realy well 98605 I agree with that, we were starting to see a good partnership down the left hand side. Pity that injury and inconsistent performances ruined it. I kind of feel sorry for Jordan. There was a time when he'd get forward and take on the defence whenever he could, the toward the end of last season he stopped doing this - almost as if he'd been told to hold back and think of his defensive duties more. This would of left him in an awkward position where he wants to get forward and the crowd are screaming at him to get forward, but he has to stick to the gameplan. It was around this time that he started to loose confidence and started playing very inconsistently... he has got talent, I just wish we could of seen it on a more regular basis.
Katy Posted 26 April 2005 Posted 26 April 2005 Could be a little bit of that well known attitude problem creeping in again
MON Posted 26 April 2005 Posted 26 April 2005 A superb performance by him today. Good defending and distribution. Made a difference to how we play and gave us some width and an edge when crosses were delivered in to the box. Maybury also looked more comfortable.

We look so much more balanced with Tiatto and Stewart down the left with Maybury on the right.

He drifted in to the centre too much and gave the ball away carelessly near the end of the game, which could have resulted in us giving derby an oppurtunity.
Katy Posted 26 April 2005 Posted 26 April 2005 Jordan had a good game, Tiatto on the other hand.................
step Posted 26 April 2005 Posted 26 April 2005 Tiatto was ace tonight, he made one bad pass, but concidering he does so much and chases the ball on the slightest opertunity which is usally when he make a mistake. It is simply unfair to critise him for one bad pass. Its a fact of life that the people "That do", will make mistakes. But they get results. Maybe people would be happier if he stood about watching the game like blake did. co at least that way he could nor be accused of making bad passes

step Posted 26 April 2005 Posted 26 April 2005 He like to get involved in the action. if he seen something aint happening some whete he chases the ball down and trys to change things. When ever he is captain the whole team are up for it. so he must have something good about him

He's got the energy to get back out to the left when defending, but it is risky. I think that's why we had control in midfield tonight, Tiatto was providing an extra man in there and breaking things up.
Ric Flair Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 The only reason why we played well tonight is because of Jordan Stewart. I don't think he played particularly well, but when he plays we are alot more dangerous down the wings which is where we are strongest. Him and Tiatto work well together, if Stewart could step up a gear and Tiatto could be a little more disciplined we would be alot more stronger as a unit. Maybury was immense last night, he got forward well as he was back in his favourite position. Hughes was class because he had a defender supporting him on the wing and that allowed the rest of the team to play with conviction. Nalis was steady but got abit careless at the end, Williams had a quality first half but died off abit in the second half. Dublin was brilliant, as he has been for a few months now and Connolly was a constant menace. He was excellent and unlucky not to have a hat-trick, his disallowed goal was harsh and I thought his volley was in from where I was sitting. Bastard! Paddy and Kenton were solid when they needed to be, McCarthy is very strong in the air, which is nice to see. Stewart was the catalyst for this team performance though because him playing, allowed everyone else to play their game instead of filling in. The future is getting a tad brighter, at last.

I was saying to a mate of mine last night we have a big gap at the back when tiatto diagonally runs forward, Im sure many managers have spotted this too. To be honest hes blood and thunder but for me a liability sometimes booked everygame at home i rekon and banned for the end of season. Also I was very pleased with the overall performance but the team need to stop showboating at 1-0, stewart was effective but he was trying some christinano Ronaldo step overs that made him look stupid at times. Keep it simple and whip the bloody ball in! A ball in the danger area can lead to goals, showboating scores nothing

Durnerz Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 I dont think Stewart was the reason we played well at all, yes he gave width and pace at the back but his deliveries are often poor, especially from set plays, Williams for me was the main man, he was very much up for it last night and acts as our playmaker, when he plays well, we play well.

If the pizzing boo boys would just get of his case, his confidence would improve and so would his game.
