Stuliasz Posted 7 February 2009 Share Posted 7 February 2009 Just wondering if anyone else was caught up in the trouble that occurred around Jarrom Street at the Robert Peel / Gateway pub area. Around 4ish, we had the Oldham 'firm' attacking our pub (apparently having been in The Gateway pub before) smashing in a load of the windows in the Robert Peel, some by throwing bottles and some by punching the windows in. Luckily no-one was hurt but could have been much worse. The police were soon covering the entire area but it is really a shame that there has to be these minorities. Talking to a few people in the Robert Peel, it seems that the landlord of the Gateway had advertised the pub as an 'away fans' pub for this game and as a result, the hooligan minority decided to use it to intimidate the regulars who were forced out of that pub into ours before it was attacked. Did anyone else have this unpleasant experience this afternoon?
Tilley Posted 7 February 2009 Share Posted 7 February 2009 Ah, that is why the entire Leicestershire constabulary were down the Walkers today.

Yeh the police only turned up in their numbers after all the trouble and then kept them all penned in at the Gateway before escorting them. Tubes Posted 8 February 2009 Share Posted 8 February 2009 I was in the Peel when it happened. Just noticed everything go quiet at the other end of the pub then a window came through. The staff were brilliant though and had the doors all locked instantly. One of the lads I know was outside having a fag when it happened and said it was two mini buses pulling up then they put the windows through and was enticing everyone out. Then they headed towards the Gateway pub with loads of coppers turning up and then marching to my estimations about 100 of them away.

OAFC Posted 8 February 2009 Share Posted 8 February 2009 Well that's jus how many i seen Its always the minority spoiling it for us on away games, we seem to have our fair share of idiots that are intent on causing trouble. The late Kick off did nothing to help things but that’s never an excuse, when we got stuffed off Hereford away Hereford fans weren’t interested in hassle so the Idiots turned on themselves and even managed to get a mention on ssn for fighting each other in the Ground! Oldham Lads these days seem hell bent on Killing or destroying everything, Oldham as a night out is pure Hell these days, and as a place well.................... OAFC Posted 8 February 2009 Share Posted 8 February 2009 I heared Leicester caused trouble at oldham in the away game which made oldham bring lads to this game? I dont think that was the case as I was drinking with the Leicester lot before the game, and afterwards it passed well. Leeds however will be a different tale as in our wisdom we have given them 4600, the whole of the stand you were in.
