Download Festival will once again be taking place at Donington Park, the spiritual home of all things rock, from June 12th-14th 2009. This year Download will feature the following incredible headline acts, Slipknot The heavy metal 9-piece will be taking a break from their ‘All Hope Is Gone’ World Tour to play at Download for the third time. Expect more masked mayhem from the controversial headline act. The Prodigy Making their second appearance at Download, The Prodigy will be injecting a dose of fierce electronica and rock-rave beats, promising a performance not to be missed. MÖTLEY CRÜE The last time MÖTLEY CRÜE came to Download they played to a ram-packed tent of screaming fans, throwing out hits such as ‘Girls Girls Girls’ and ‘Dr. Feelgood’. They’ll be back at Download again this year, so get ready for another round of pandemonium from the lavish LA wildcats. Ko?n Playing staggeringly for the fifth at Download, Ko?n have established themselves as a highlight for festivals fans across the globe. Get ready to let Jonathan, Munky and Fieldy rock your tiny socks off one more time. Pendulum 2008’s heroes of drum ‘n’ bass / metal mash ups join the fray after a welcoming reception last year from the Download crowd. DRAGONFORCE Having spent the last couple of years edging their way more and more into the public’s consciousness, young power metallers DRAGONFORCE will be inhumanly rampaging at this year’s Download. Though having said that, if I ever go to a festival again (haven't been since 07, used to go to one every year) I'm going to Europe. For the price of a Reading ticket you can travel to most European festivals, buy a ticket AND buy your drugs/booze. What's to lose? They have better line-ups, better atmospheres and better value for money.

Damn them. Roll on Exit 2010.

Finnegan Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Download's average. The bands they get are pretty amazing, in all fairness, you can't really call it "poor." If you don't like the music then okay, I don't like Elton John but I know he isn't crap. Shocking atmosphere, though. Really, really shocking. Probably 'cos it's too far from any cheap booze or maybe just because it attracts a slightly older crowd. Awful compared to Reading.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 10 February 2009 Posted 10 February 2009 Devildriver are a great call as a headline act, they will get the crowd going like nothing download has seen before. The problem with the English festival circuit mainly is the pricing of the festival, the crowd at these gigs are generally older and more restrained than other festival circuits leading to a more dreary atmosphere due to who can buy tickets ect. European festivals generally blow away the UK ones, they are so cheap you can get travel, tickets and food/living costs for the festival less than just the ticket for the UK ones.
