cisono Posted 12 February 2009 Author Posted 12 February 2009 Beeps usually mean memory problems i think. I had beeps and had to change me memory sticks. There is another thing that beeps could mean but I can't remember what. You are talking about the beeps that might happen when you switch on your computer (and sometimes are the only message you get, when no monitor output is present. Bloody annoying that!). The ones I am talking about happen when my PC is "happily" idling in windows and only when I switch off my lamp. Quite different, methinks, particularly since the beeps may actually be coming from elsewhere...

Guest Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 Have you tried burning your computer and buying a mac instead? Sage advice that
cisono Posted 15 February 2009 Author Posted 15 February 2009 Have you tried burning your computer and buying a mac instead? I did think about that (buying a mac, not burning my current PC) a couple of months back. Financial issues stopped me.
BoneDog Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 What's good about a mac? I've heard of em but aint got a clue what the difference is between a mac and my home pc.

Guest Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 Nothing. Blasphemer!! For starters, mac are MUCH more user friendly. Secondly, if you use yours for audio/video production like myself, withe the right configuration they're incredibly stable and powerful tools. Thirdly, with the intel processor versions (of which mine is not, although I am considering investing in a macbook to go with my G5), you can run boot camp and use all those PC apps shuold you still want to. I'm sure other mac users can add more but that's just off the top of my head
BoneDog Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 I do make me own videos with audio and stuff. Is a Mac a totally different OS then? Not windows? Someone told me that a Mac is hard to get parts for or repair, is this correct? Cos with my pc I just buy bits and bobs for it when I want to make it better.

Yes, although you can run windows on a dual boot with the intel processor versions of mac or run Virtual PC. Macs are no harder to get spares for than PC, although I've never had to repair any of my macs, just expand them like you do with your pc
fox123 Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 It would seem my PC has the lurgy or something. I have to keep refreshing the page for it to load, I have tried downloading some malware stuff via torrents but it isn't letting me. Don't really format, but thinking of going on Vista, though can't seem to find a 'bootable' d/l

Good anti-malware, just do the quick scan option, that seems to sort everything and only takes about 4 minutes. And it's free

BoneDog Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 Yea, only have one account on it...might just format it tomorrow, anything I need is backed up If you go to this site and state your prob someone will sort it for you. I went there and in a few days when someone got round to me they proper sorted it for me What the tech.com Just stick your HijackThis log in there with a quick description of your problem. If you got a different prob go in another page on that site. If you got everything backed up formatting is good idea if you got time. Once every 5 months or so, especially if you install and uninstall alot of programs.
