Finchy Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 I know the NME awards is a pathetic excuse for an awards ceremony but apparently Albarn and Coxon performed at the event and played This Is A Low. It's on Friday night on Ch4, just thought people would like to know Obviously except Ash.
ASH17LCFC Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 HAHAHAHA and aren't OASIS up for the most awards ? NME
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 It is shite, lots of poseurs that aren't there to have a good time.
StanSP Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I brought the NME magazine for the Free Cure Covers CD and a huge Kings of Leon poster. They do some good stuff
Fosse Boy Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I watched it. Most of it was utterly horrendous, as it always is. Thought The Cure ripped up the stage but it didn't look like most of the posers in the crowd knew who they were. Hilarious when everyone booed Oasis when they got Best British Band, AS VOTED FOR BY NME READERS (Ash).

Overall yeah it was shite, but I thought Glasvegas with Florence and The Machine was immense, such a good cover. Also thought Blur were good, Damon's voice was slightly disappointing tho but it's amazing to see them back together.
Samilktray Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Free huge Kings of Leon poster. I cant possibly think of a worser way to spend money.

Got booed because they didn't show up and why should they ? NME awards isn't big enough for Oasis to show up at. NME readers are all closet Oasis fans but they don't tell anyone because they want to be DIFFERENT and wank over Muse or Radiohead

ASH17LCFC Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 I'm glad you agree for once, Oasis don't need awards anymore.
Guest Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 I'm glad you agree for once, Oasis don't need awards anymore. Nope. They need a bit more cash from sycophantic fans
ASH17LCFC Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Nope. They need a bit more cash from sycophantic fans Yeah right, True Oasis fans know NME are abunch of divs and were glad they didn't show up. They got Blur to play I bet Noel was thinking ... Didn't we finished their careers 10 years ago.

ASH17LCFC Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Does Noel not tell you what he's thinking while he's spooning you after a good hard sesh then? I have my own opinions and you act like i'm in love with him aswell .. pathetic.

NME readers are all closet Oasis fans but they don't tell anyone because they want to be DIFFERENT and wank over Muse or Radiohead Err... sorry, what? I know I'm kind of a late-comer to the Ash vs. Music Chat war but are you honestly trying to tell people Oasis aren't an NME band? If so, erm... And didn't you admit to being an NME reader? Having brought it serveral times already this year?

If so, erm... And didn't you admit to being an NME reader? Having brought it serveral times already this year? Are Oasis a NME band ? No - NME readers normally hate Oasis because they're popular and not playing in some toilet in front of 200 checkerd shirt wearing tools. I have brought NME Twice, Oasis interview both time i brought it for. I hate NME and their uni student views on music. NME get Oasis on the front because they know, they will sell more issues then some band call MGMT or Bloc Party.
Finnegan Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Oasis have won something like twenty odd NME awards over the last however long? All voted for by NME readers?
ASH17LCFC Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Oasis have won something like twenty odd NME awards over the last however long? Also i bet you are aswell.

Because all students have the same tastes in music? Does Noel put a wig on you when he spoons you? Because that's not gay.

They don't care and also Because they're all closet Oasis fans like TPH, Fez and Essex boy. Also i bet you are aswell. They've got a few songs I don't mind, but I'm not particularly fussed by them. I have a similar view of Blur actually, although at least their songwriting is generally more original.
Finnegan Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 1995 * Oasis: Became the first band in the modern era to win three awards. 1996 * Oasis: First band in the modern era to win four awards (Best Band, Best Live band, Best Album - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, and Best Single - "Wonderwall)". 2009 * Oasis nominated for a record 7 awards I'm not a closet Oasis fan. I like Oasis and haven't read the NME since I was about 13 years old - I honestly didn't think it was particularly widely read by adults to be honest, it's just a pop mag like Melody Maker. Even dross like Q bores me, I don't really like music literature it strikes me as pretentious. But Oasis are as much a part of that as anyone else. Just because part of Liam's act is pretending he's some sort of urban hero, big man thug doesn't stop them being any less a part of the indie/alternative/student/whatever scene. I don't quite know what your fear of that is? Don't you realise that your own snobbish refusal to accept that Oasis are "an NME band" is just as stupid as the so called NME readers pretending their bands aren't just mainstream, run of the mill shit?

I'm not a music Snob, i like a mainstream band like Oasis and you get slated by the Smunts of the forum. Oasis aren't in a scene either. They didn't go to college to learn how to play Music, they get it handed to them, they were fooking work class normall people and they didn't want to change the fooking world. Oasis are 5 people on stage having it, they don't give a fook if some NME douchebag writes about them. Take a Cock in Essex, who said Oasis write the same old kinda song every album and never changed. Why should they ? Its been working since 1994 and thats the music they wanna write. So why change ? Noel and Liam beleive in their music and they don't write music for money anymore because they're minted. They write music because they love it and its their jobs. Liam and Noel on stage don't do alot but they let their music do the buissness instead of dancing round like that slug out of muse does. Rant over.

I challenge you to find the post where I said that.
