StanSP Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 1 Wolverhampton 37 22 70 2 Birmingham 37 12 67 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Reading 35 30 63 4 Cardiff 34 19 59 5 Sheff Utd 36 16 59 6 Preston 37 2 56 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7 Burnley 36 0 55 8 Swansea 36 13 54 9 Bristol City 37 5 54 That's the top of the Championship as it stands. I think Wolves, even though they had a slight dip in form recently, have a big enough gap to go up automatically. Birmingham will probably just sneak it there too, with their biggest threat Reading. If Brum go up, I think the other play-off places could be filled by Cardiff, Sheff Utd and Burnley. It will change around loads by then but I think Sheff Utd, Wolves and Birmingham will go up. What do you think?
Fox92 Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Think that Reading will nick second and Birmingham will finish 3rd. Not sure about the play-offs though; Birmingham Cardiff Sheff United Swansea Imagine Cardiff City v Swansea City play-off final
Corky Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I hope Birmingham and Wolves don't go up. Obviously one, if not both, will though. Reading should go up as well, maybe Cardiff.
fox123 Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Who ever is in the Championship next season is gonna be a bastard to get out of. If any one of Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Blackburn or Portsmouth come down, add that to the possibilities of West Brom, Reading, Watford, Cardiff and to some extent, Derby, Coventry and Cardiff I'd be happy with a Mid-Table finish. As for who may go up, I think the top 3 to be fair.
Kilworthfox Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 1 Wolverhampton 37 22 70 2 Birmingham 37 12 67 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Reading 35 30 63 4 Cardiff 34 19 59 5 Sheff Utd 36 16 59 6 Preston 37 2 56 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7 Burnley 36 0 55 8 Swansea 36 13 54 9 Bristol City 37 5 54 Automatic will be 2 out of the top 4, with games in had Reading could have 69 & Cardiff have 68 points so it is far from over or already won. I hope Cardiff don't go up ppurely because they are Welsh Can't have them winning our league now can we I have never rated Brum as a club so I hope they stay down.. Playoffs looks open still. The team with the best form end of season usually win, so too early to tell at the moment.
Father Ted Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Wolves fans are beginning to get very worried and personally I don't see them going up. Iwelumo hasn't scored since NOVEMBER! They always start well but fade away at the end of the season. Birmingham are also doing poorly. So basically the team that is poorest between Wolves, Brum and Reading won't go up. I have a feeling though that Cardiff could sneak into the automatic places and I feel that Reading are the strongest and best equipped to go up so it's tight. But... I will say that Brum, Reading and Cardiff go up.
act smiley Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Imagine Cardiff City v Swansea City play-off final More like last ever game at Ninian Park in the semis? Still - its a rather close thing, though I do tend to think Reading and Wolves will be the auto teams out of the four with a decent chance.
Ultra Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I have never rated Brum as a club so I hope they stay down.. Their turnouts at both home and away games in recent weeks have been shockingly poor. The fans don't deserve top flight football. I'd also far rather visit St Andrews than the Madejski next season.

I was watching SSN laast night and when they went to the Reading game, all you could see behind John Salako were empty seats!!

Ultra Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I was watching SSN laast night and when they went to the Reading game, all you could see behind John Salako were empty seats!! Away end? Reading have picked up a lot of glory-hunters in recent seasons. It's not surprising that a large element of them disappeared after relegation. Even so, they're still getting more support than the brummies.

Yeah I realised that after I posted, but I couldn't be bothered to change it

I was living in Reading last year during my placement and I must say it was definitely the case. A lot of tickets were snapped up by the workers @ big companies down that way (Mircosoft, Oracle etc) who generally have a lot of people come to work from abroad and they snapped at the chance to see PL football. Obviously, not the same this season! I wanted to go to a few games but couldnt't get tickets! Although, the cup games were cheap, the cup game against Liverpool which was 7-0 I think was only £5.
