New Club Logo

I used to do this sort of thing (corporate branding) for a living.

The club has a new agency. As usual they have started by tampering with the current logo. There are several points to make.

First, this is going to cost a lot of money when the club is pleading for restraint. (Every news/media outlet has got be supplied with the revised version plus all stationery, vehicles, signage and printed publication etc.) This means a cotly design manual. A big outlay for a small change.

Second, the changes are minimal as they reckon, correctly, that the current one is well established and well designed. So why bother except to line a few pockets?

Thirdly, it is virtually impossibe to clear the decks overnight so the two will live side by side for a long while. Result: a mishmash of slightly different versions flying about.

Fourthly, the changes will not add one single pound to the club's income.

Finally, the changes to the foxes head are baffling and pointless.

incidently i think our crest is one of the best in the football league - fox and the white cinquefoil for local association, simple (deosn't look like a council crest like burnley or peterborough etc.) and yet has a bit of character. no need to change at all.

I like it looks more modern, dont think the club need to bother replacing the £48,000 piece of glass stuck to the walkers though lol

Judging by the crest printed on next season's Season Tickets, I assume we'll be using the 125 Years version of the new crest on our shirts and merchandising. Could be wrong though.

I quite like the change but it would be better if the fox showed some teeth, and looked a bit fiercer.

The new logo isn't official until it has changed in the FoxesTalk banner at the top...

The FT banner is retro.

I'd hazard a guess that all new 125th year materials and merchandise will be using the new logotype. Out with the old in with the new. I'd also imagine that they will be drastically be reducing the price of merchandise towards the end of the season to remove any trace of the old logo.

It was about time it was updated and works well on all levels.
