Edwin is a big 'keeper but he'd have had no chance if he'd have gone the right way. Anybody with their arty farty penalties should watch a replay of it and practise them on the training ground.

But, there is a very high percentage of those sort of penalties, going wrong, whether the keeper saves it, or the ball goes over/wide. It might look good, but if it fails, you will look a right idiot. I must say though, to take a penalty like that, you must have a lot of courage. i occasnally practice these type of pens in a full size empty goal and to get the ball up, then down and in any of the top corners is fricking well difficult, cannot imagine having to try it in a game against a keeper.

The chip? I don't consider myself to have amazing technique but I can do that pretty easily. The technique isn't what beats the keeper the surprise is - if Given hadn't comitted himself he'd have just stood to his right and caught that easily. It's not a well struck penalty it's just a clever gamble. It's marginally more forgiveable than the "dummy" penalties in my opinion though I'm still not a fan. See? Or someone a bit more famous?
Koke Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Robinho was just trying to be clever but he ended up looking like a tit. That's one of the easiest pens Fulop will ever save. If you wanna practise pens, then look no further than Matt Le Tissier. He buried 48 out 49 penalties.
