foss1884 Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Today was a dismal experience from the strangest weather conditions i have ever experienced at a football match to our inept football as one of the so-called quality sides in this division. Admittedly, Posh looked hungrier and livelier, but the refereeing decisions left a lot to be desired and some gamesmanship. The one thing that made the day enjoyable was our superb support. It was certainly one of the loudest experiences i have had supporting Leicester and i am sure it was helped by the cowshed roof! I thought the Blue Army did themselves proud and provided a great atmosphere to a game that resembled a morgue otherwise. I was shocked and surprised by the lack of noise from the home faithful, who only marginally sprung to life after the second goal. It was all very tepid from them and if that is meant to be electric from them, they must be used to a cemetery! I would like other Leicester fan's perspectives on this, particularly those that were in home sections. So much for it being their cup final, they did not seem willing to show any passion until the game was nearly over. Blue Army!
Ultra Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 In the first half we heard one or two whimpers from the home end. Obviously the volume increased after the two goals. The mood among the home fans in the pub afterwards was as exuberant as one might expect. Bear in mind that today's result will be as close as the posh will ever come to winning a cup final.
Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Thought we were very good in terms of noise- decent variety too. Not sure about the home fans- the acoustics weren't great so maybe we couldn't hear them very well?
lildave3 Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Ole, ole, ole, ole - Going up up up. Quite liked that if i'm honest. Cheesy, but decent.
Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Also, their Family Stand made ours look like a cauldron of noise
Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I wanted more terrace bouncing. A pitch invasion a la Scotland at Wembley, smashing the goals up to get the game abandoned would have useful and very welcome
WISBECH POSH Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Well done today big turn out Posh fans were making a fair bit of noise i thought but what youve gotta remember is : Posh normal games are 6000 - 7000 this is with an away attendance of we will say 500 Todays attendance = 14100 Regular Posh Fans = 6500 Leicester Fans = 4100 Not so regular Posh Fans = 3500 My personel believe is that this effects the atmosphere dramaticly. Away fans always think they are louder at London Road its just how it sounds on those terraces But no disrespect but you lot were nothing special 2day probably 3 loud songs all game where as Leeds didnt stop the whole game even after final whistle we beat them 2-0 aswell Hope we both go up automatically as enjoy playing clubs like Leicester but i cant help thinking that some of you think you are alot bigger than you are, Your a good League 1 side but then guess what so are that little club Peterborough United just up the road.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I think the stand opposite us were quite lively right at the start but we were so loud for most of it we couldnt hear them, Ive got a Posh mate who was in the London road end today so at least I can say fook off because we have much better support . Our side looked poor for most of the game though! By the way that was the first time ive heard the When Your Smiling and Bring on Sunderland and Arsenal propperly with alot of people joining in and it was awesome It should be done more often!

Congratulations.

By the way, we are a massive club, MASSSIVE!!
Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Now i know why i used to hate Leicester Why? Because we were loud and totally ripping apart your shit argument?
WISBECH POSH Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 While I'm forgetting why I used to like Peterborough at least teams like Leeds, Forest, Sheff Wed, Man City can actually be arrogant when theyre in the bottom 2 leagues because at one time or another they have actually been good sides with massive followings but ill be honest i think the championship is your rightful home along side the likes of Norwich, Ipswich, Wolves, West Brom etc, All good well supported clubs but not as good as they think they are

I was sitting in the Leicester seated area - so not in the tin roof area. Posh didn't make a sound for 44 minutes and then barely until they scored again. Leicester were louder

Guest ttfn Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 thats that then cuz its come from you I'd like to think that being in an area where it was disappointingly quiet, I had a better concept of the noise being made than most
sapalmer Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 thats that then cuz its come from you Never ceases to amaze me how every small club has a minority who cannot resist when they get one over us that they suddenly have a history and feel they can come on our site to gloat. Wisbech - concentrate on your own club which is having it's famous five minutes due to your new owner who once he moves on will leave Posh where it always has been a small club in Cambridge.
