diggler Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Is it true the attendance was 26k? How are they gonna fill a 30k stadium every week, against small sides, if they're struggling etc? My tigers mates are always giving me stick about the walkers being empty, but I think this finally proves who the better supported club is in Leicester...

In the MON years Filbo was full every match and ever when we were in the Prem it was mostly full. I remember days when you could turn up on the day and get a Tigers ticket (back in the good old days ofd amatuerism and £5 tickets). Leicester were still one of the best teams in the country themn, but for some reason people only started to flock to rugby when it went professional and they had to start paying more. Weird!
Ford Super Sunday Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Really glad about Tigers win, listened to it yesterday when I got bac from Fordy. Glad they played at Filbert Way, would have been crap for them to play in a ground which only had three stands, now that the Caterpillar stand is being demolished. Pitch looked ok from the highlights I saw, and the attendance, which was 26,100 was still 9,000 more than whey could have got at Welford Road (and their new stand will take the capacity to 25,000, with other redevelopments taking it eventually to 30,000 I understand. Well done Tigers... good stuff... a great day all round for Leicester Sport
Fosse Boy Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 Saw quite a few Bath fans at Hopwood Park services yesterday, so had a little chant of "Tiiiiiiiiiiiiigers, Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigers" going by myself to annoy them.

Lots of people who wanted to go probably couldn't get tickets because of corporate. Factor in the people that would have refused to go because it was in the Walkers, too. They won't fill out 30k every week at Welford Road but they'll probably have higher attendances than we will in the bottom half of the Championship. Games like Wasps and the big Heineken Cup games they'll probably sell out.
Ultra Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 The empty seats were in all areas of the ground, not just the corporate bits. The evening kickoff and the live coverage on Sky probably didn't do the attendance any favours.
C-man Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Look what they've done to our lovely pitch. That picture is taken in the 6 yard box at the Kop end. It's not mud, it's sand that's splashing up. You can tell by the fact there's no mud on his arms/legs that it's sand. The pitch is fine, it'll just have green paint over the white lines. Is it true the attendance was 26k? Yeah, it was said to be 26k, but my Dad went to the game and said if it was a City game, they would have announced the attendance as about 29k!
Ultra Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Whatever, we still ended up with a bigger crowd than them..
Floating Fox Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 We burned a Tigers flag last night. Hilarious.
