Nearly a year on.....

I thought i'd reflect on the last year of being a Leicester City Fan.

May 4th i.e. a week on monday,is the year anniversary of our relegation from the Championship, my lowest point in football, it was such a sad day for leicester fans all over the world.

I can honestly say my passion for leicester had nearly left me. our club had become a joke, we had a clown in charge,a mad chairman and players that didn't care.

several changes then occured to our team. we sacked the clown and appointed a man who knew what he was doing.

we sold some good players but replaced them with better players, some from the youth system and some on loan.

In a few weeks Pearson had changed a losing mentality into a winning one, After the pre season friendly with Birmingham, i was looking forward to the new season, Let's show them (forest, leeds) how it's done and we have :D

It was still a roller coaster but we pulled through with MASSIVE results against peterborough and cheltenham, last minute winners against leeds :D

What a season, Ive loved every minute of it.

My passion is back and i love this club again.

I wan't to say well done to all the fans who have been to the games this year, you have made the club and the rest of us proud.

I also want to say R.I.P to all the leicester fans that have passed away this year, you will be missed!

Who needs man utd and liverpool when you have the mighty city!

I had almost lost every bit of love and passion for the club last season, It slowly was leaving me season after season for the past 5? 6 years? But I always knew I would be back supporting the team, having a season ticket, watching them or listening to them on the radio, that was the annoying fact no matter how pissed off I was or got, I would go back for more, It was like a drug.

This season doesn't exactly make it all worthwhile but certainly goes a long way, and you realised why you spend so much money on the club, you follow them everywhere, you can't help but think about the club, and 'waste' your time on the club, This season the club has gained alot of my respect back, they have earned my passion and support back and it has felt great.

Next season I don't believe we will get promoted, I don't believe we will figure in the play-offs, and I realise it's probably going to be a struggle in which I will be happy with a mid-table finish, and won't be too happy with a relegation battle though - As in if we got promoted to the Premiership you are normally happy and the objective would be to finish 17th.

I honestly believe though we needed to come down and take a step backwards to go forwards, Hopefully it will be the case that we have come down, rebuilt a little bit, got the team spirit back, got a decent managers (Who's real test will start next season), players that actually want to play for the - This shown by Hobbs signing a 4 year contract, Gilbert and Cleverly coming back to support the team on 3 occasions since going back to their parent clubs, Gradel celebrations speak for themselves,

Maybe it's just another false dawn breed by the success of winning League One but hopefully this is not the case - We have seen enough false dawns and chances missed to push forward in the last few years though, so we will see.

Worst moment of my football life when we went down last year. That and for some reason when we played Newcastle and Darron Ambrose scored in the last min against us a while back.

HAPPY DAYS NOW THOUGH :chant:

I was working as a steward in the away end last year and will never forget the Sheffield Wed match. the tension was palpable even as I came to work at 13.00 but when we scored the stewards took a long breath. Then of course it all went horribly wrong. We weren't able to show our stress so just fleeting glances to one another whilst keeping a very close eye on the fans who were as jubilant as you'd expect. The knowledge that we were as good as down was horrible.

What a difference a year makes eh?

Year ago today was the home defeat to Wednesday.

What a lovely preparation for my 18th birthday.

My 19th will be better :D

I couldn't make the away trip to Stoke last year. I had a track day booked for months (assuming at that stage of the season we'd be safe )

I kept thinking about the game all day and come 3 o'clock, I switched off my mobile and listened to my i-pod in between track time. I packed up my bike and bits in record time and drove home (with the radio turned off) to watch the match that I had sky+'ed.

Mrs Munzie greeted me at the door with a very gloomy look. I knew then that we were down. I still sat and watched the whole game just in case she'd got it wrong - after all, she is a girl

At approx. 7:45pm on that fateful day, I joined the rest of the Leicester faithful in that awful feeling that we had been relegated. At 38 years of age, not much makes me cry. I had to go and sit in the garden on my own

I still can't believe that was almost a year ago. This wonderful season has gone quicker than I do at race circuits. I am very happy in looking forward to Championship football next season but will always look back with a fondness for our year outside the top two divisions. Fondness - yes, a return - definately not!

I will never ever forget the Sheff Wed game last season , The chant of 1 nil up and fooked it up still haunts me and walking home then seeing my housemates written 3-1 on my door was not nice <_< this whole season has been brilliant it was such a good feeling just to see a last home game in a positive light instead of being a nervous wreck.

Next season I hope we consolidate and push on , i will be happy with a mid-table finish and then next season afterwards try for the play offs but who knows football is a funny game we could do a swansea or a forest (flipping hope not)

that sounds like a door that wouldn't have lasted long if it'd had been my mates

What a horrible day.

I held it all back until i'd got out of view of the sky cameras and just launched my portable radio at the side of the stadium lol

A copper then come and put his arm round me and told me that there'l always be next season :banghead: Clueless focker.

Then i nearly got ran over as i just walked out into the roundabout in a weird trance.

Never again!

Incredible change in one year. Spent that awful afternoon sitting on the kitchen floor. I was laying tiles, but by 4.45 it seemed perfectly appropriate.

As others have said, the joy of Southend healed many wounds from last year. The bitterness of our drop made the success this year all the sweeter. That never helps at the time but it's always true: without the pain of defeats, victories would be meaningless.

i posted this elsewhere, but it was either missed by most (or ignored), but i think it is testament to the difference achieved in just a year....

This season our GOAL DIFFERENCE is the same as lasts season's TOTAL goals scored.... 42.

I think I knew the game was up after Sheff Wed, but nothing will ever compare to the feeling after the Stoke game. I managed to hold it until about the 85th minute, purely because I didn't want to be that fan crying on Sky. Even writing this is making me cry!!

I will never, ever forget that day, and although Southend has gone a long way into healing that pain, it is going to take ages to get over.

I can honestly say that the feeling after Stoke on the 4th May last year was the worst feeling I've had in football. I felt numb, couldn't speak and was dreading a season of playing sides like Yeovil and Hartlepool. The expectation was that we would be playing this calibre of sides for years to come, so convinced was I that we would not bounce back at the first attempt. Even though I was moving back to Leicester after 8 years away, I seriously wrestled with the idea of not buying a season ticket, just seeing how we went on before I would commit myself to a half season ticket or just going game by game. Thankfully, I made the decision to buy a season ticket and have experienced the best season I've ever been fortunate enough to be a part of. Winning regularly, playing good football and away trips to new grounds with friendly home fans has been a pleasure. We've had one or two shaky moments, but there has never really been any doubt that we would go up. In a way, I'll miss this division. The smaller grounds at Swindon and Hereford have more character than grounds like the Ricoh will ever have. The thought of never playing Cheltenham again in a competitive game (other than a fortunate cup draw) is a real choker. Overall though, roll on the Championship and let's make 2009/2010 an even better season.

I was a STH during the Premier League years, but I can honestly say this season has been the most enjoyable. New grounds, new teams, proper fans, long away trips. I have to say, it's been great, but I'm glad it's one season only- we can look back on this campaign with some affection and gained new friendships (Cheltenham obviously, but we've made a good impression at other clubs as well).

Looking back to those last two games of last season, they were horrible. The Wednesday match, and then Stoke, on TV and them going up too. It was hard to take.

But we picked ourselves up, got on with the job and have deserved the title.

i am just glad this season is over with!!

i think the young players have performed superbly but i cant start shouting from the rooftops.

i have enjoyed some of the football and away trips and its great to have the feelgood factor back winning games but

we have just been promoted from the 3rd division hopefully a division we shall never return too.

onwards and upwards
