MC Prussian Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Manchester City seem to be in talks signing the Cameroon striker from Barcelona: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ity/8022795.stm Man City discuss Eto'o with Barca Eto'o has scored 32 goals in 42 games so far this season Manchester City and Barcelona officials met on Monday and discussed the possible transfer of Samuel Eto'o to Eastlands, BBC Sport understands Although it was billed as a contact-building exercise, the possibility of a deal for £40m-rated Cameroon striker Eto'o formed part of their discussions. The 28-year-old was transfer-listed by Barcelona last season but has found his best form under new boss Pep Guardiola. Eto'o has given no indication he would be willing to leave the Catalan giants. Manchester City certainly have the ambition and financial clout to lure the likes of Eto'o since their takeover last September by the Abu Dhabi United Group, backed by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. But the club will not figure in next season's Champions League and are by no means guaranteed a place in the new Europa League. Officials are likely to tread carefully in any fresh transfer bids for big-name players following the acrimony over their failed move for AC Milan's Kaka. Manchester City's executive chairman Garry Cook was criticised after accusing Milan of "bottling" a £100m deal for the Brazilian star.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I seriously think it will be likely, he has made it clear that he wants to leave Camp Nou and he has always said he would love to play in the premiership. I would love to see him play here because he is one of the best finishers in the business. I just don't want to see him at City. I guess it all comes down to cash. Barca will look to cash in so they can finally get hold of Villa.

I predict there will be a lot of rotation of big names this year (Ibrahimovic, Tevez, Drogba?, Ballack, Eto'o, Ribery etc.)
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Yes that's very true, I hope Ribery ends up going to Barca, especially when I go back next season. It would be great to see a vintage Ribery display.
Joe. Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Man City can die. At least go to a decent side Sam. That said, I'd love to see him in the Premiership.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I'd much prefer to see him at Man City than one of the top four if he ever came to England.
ousefox Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 He would be a great signing for Man City. Much rather him be there than any of the top 4.
Ultra Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 If Eto'o does leave Barca, he'll want to move to a club playing in the Champions or Europa Leagues. That may well rule Man City out..

Personally, I think David Villa in a top side coould become the best centre forward in the world. Practically unmarkable and got bags of goals in him.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 April 2009 Posted 30 April 2009 If we're talking rumours, I've heard that should Chelsea appoint Ancelotti, it won't be long before Tevez and Zhirkov wind up at Stamford Bridge.

I would love to see Silva at Barcelona too.
Ultra Posted 1 May 2009 Posted 1 May 2009 Or it might simply come down to the dosh they're willing to pay him... That didn't tempt Kaka, and I wouldn't think it will tempt Eto'o either. Only a big 4 club will bring him to England.
