I think we will have to be quick to sign some of the names mentioned before those being relegated from the prem will have the added bonus of the parachute payments for the likes of Simon Cox and possibly Rickie Lambert IMO i dont think RL will be the hot potato like SC.

Lambert is not good enough for the championship.

TBH I don’t see anything to suggest either Cox or Lambert are anything more than Billy Sharpe or Izale McLeod MkII... players who's reputation is built on a good season in one of the lower leagues, earn a transfer to a bigger club and then go on to disappoint.

Difference is though, both of them scoring shed loads of goals for struggling teams - well in simon cox's case anyhow.

To mute Lamberts case, its not just this season, he's been popping up scoring goals for the gas for a number of seasons, including the FA Cup quarter final run. Think of Tim Cahill when at Milwall - if you don't take a chance you never know do you!

I'm sure you have bags of evidence, where is it?

Fair point, I'm just very iffy about players who are being judged on the one good season in League One (not the case when it comes to Lambert I know). On the same basis we dont need to worry about our options up front next season because we've got Fryatt.

Of the two Lambert inspires more confidence... but you just cant tell how they'll adapt to the League above, having said there arent many clubs who can afford to buy players who've already proven their ability beyond a shadow of a doubt in the higher Leagues. In the end it all comes down to what the manager and the scounts think - and Pearson hasnt made many bad calls when it comes to bringing in new players.

agree he looked awful when we played them

No offence but you cant possibly form an opinion on one game. No one knows if hes good enough for the CCC as hes never played in it!

Cant believe Cox looks destined for the Premiership though.... I think he should have gone up one league to start with but saying that who knows? He might be up to it

Joey Barton was booking a room at Rothely Court Hotel about an hour ago.

Lamberts movement at the Walkers was excellent , held the ball up well and looked a threat in the box . Im sure scouts have been watching him week in week out and they will know what he can do . Id take him although maybe Cox would be a better partner for Howard

Or Fryatt ...
