flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Why is Pearson doing this? Hayles is terrible, and Dickov is way past it. Kee should've been given a few games. I mean, Ajdarevic is rubbish, and even he gets on the bench for a few minutes. Madness.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Louis Dodds scored 65 times in 3 seasons at youth and reserve level.... Where is he again?

Thracian Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Louis Dodds scored 65 times in 3 seasons at youth and reserve level.... Where is he again? My son, who lives in Stoke, reckons Dodds has been one of the few successes at Port Vale this season - a comment backed by the fact that Dodds made more appearances (41 starts and 7 appearances as sub) than any other player and finished second top scorer with 10 goals playing mainly in midfield. This follows on to his previous season at Lincoln when he was joint leader of the appearances table with 40 starts and 4 appearances as sub and finished third top scorer with 10 goals, again, froim midfield. It never surprises me to hear you knock one of our youngsters but for a guy to start his league career with 81 starts in two seasons and 20 goals in that time from midfield strike me as being pretty reasonable - and a damned sight more than Dickov and Hayles have ever threatened this season.
flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Why do City have an academy if if they just ditch the players? Are they hoping for another Emile Heskey?

Second top scorer for Port Vale... it's the stuff of boyhood dreams.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Why do City have an academy if if they just ditch the players? Are they hoping for another Emile Heskey? Since when has he been ditched? If he feels that he is better off somewhere else then good luck to him, I'm not going to shed a tear over it. As Stearman, Mattock, and King have shown, if you have the talent you will play. No youth teamer who has gone off in a huff about not playing is currently above our position in the league.
flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 You'll be shedding a tear when Kee scores 10 goals for Exeter! You know you will!
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 You'll be shedding a tear when Kee scores 10 goals for Exeter! You know you will! Really? What division are they in again? I hope the lad makes it I really do, I just hope he sets his sights higher than Exeter.
flanimal Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Second top scorer for Port Vale... it's the stuff of boyhood dreams. I could've been second top scorer for Port Vale if I wanted, but I chose to do something better - like masturbate over Fern Britton.
JoeyB Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 The club currently has about 10 strikers ahead of him1-Fryatt 2-Howard 3-Dickov 4-Hayles 5-Campbell 6-Chambers 7-Odhiambo - did he not move to scotland? or was that on loan? 8-Sappleton 9-King 10-McKay plus Chamberlain and then Kee Ones with strikes are going.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Ones with strikes are going. Odihambo is not going to be here either... SURELY!!!
JoeyB Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Really? What division are they in again?I hope the lad makes it I really do, I just hope he sets his sights higher than Exeter. League one next season ain't they?
Thracian Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Second top scorer for Port Vale... it's the stuff of boyhood dreams. We lost to Rotherham this year so your smuggishness doesn't wash and 81 starts and 20 goals in two seasons not only represents bloody good value for money but also a much better goals return than Dickov's two goals in 19 appearances for City and Hayles' two goals in 28 appearances. However you choose to dress it up. And if you think Dodds wouldn't have more than managed those returns in Division One with the benefit of City's wingers then you're a dreamer.

Dodds would've been shown up if he played in midfield for us this season. He would've been shocking. If you're 18-19 and you're a footballer, you want first team games. Should've loaned loads of the Academy out already.

As we have seen this season though League 1 is a completely different standard to championship. So I'm guessing League 2 is different to League 1. no offence but i bet if he scores 10 goals in league 2 probably be about 6 in league 1 2 if he is lucky in the champo? Thats just predictions. on a different note: Pearson has been with Leicester for nearly a season now, and he also managed and was part of the England u21 squad for a few seasons so would know what to look for in our youth players and if he saw someone who he thought was good enough they would be making the bench at least or he would have made every effort to loan them out to mature them and give them the experience they need. Maybe Pearson thought that Billy was a bit to young to play this season and thought best to keep him in the u18's and send out on loan next season? We can all make assumptions and say yes he could be a leading player, or he could cut it in the championship after scoring 10 times in 48 games, but at the end of the day what we say is not going to affect Nigel, Craig's, Milan & the players decisions is it.
ts_1010 Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 I don't want to change the subject but Thracian has a point. Dodds has been playing mostly on the wing and in midfield so his goals per games stat is pretty decent. The lad has done pretty well for them and they seem very happy with him. I think we do need to look at our youth set up regarding the transfer from youth to first team. Theres no point in developing talent for other teams to benefit from the end product.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 We lost to Rotherham this year so your smuggishness doesn't wash. What the hell has Rotherham got to do with anything. And if you think Dodds wouldn't have more than managed those returns in Division One with the benefit of City's wingers then you're a dreamer. If you compare actual minutes on the pitch rather than appearances your little figures start to look rather less attractive. Most of their appearances have been 15 minutes, or less. Where as Golden boy has started most of his games. And if you think Dodds wouldn't have more than managed those returns in Division One with the benefit of City's wingers then you're a dreamer. I think you are the dreamer thracian, you are using a non existent fact to try and weight the argument in your favour.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Theres no point in developing talent for other teams to benefit from the end product. [/size] That's the whole point, we are at a better level than any of these players who have gone elsewhere!!! If someone above us was benefiting I could see what you're saying.

Your sense isn't wanted around here, only people who think there is some kind of youth conspiracy are allowed to post.

smokey Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 That's a real shame, Kee and Chambers should have been in with a shout of first team football this year but for one reason or another Pearson hasn't given them a go and it's backfired now unfortunately. Think Kee wasnt ready but would of liked to see Chambers get more game time last season. I think we need to keep both of them for 2 more years but loan them both out for the whole of next season to League 2 clubs so they can get games and it will be the make or break of them as pro's.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 What on earth is a non existent "fact"? That's something that you made up, but pass it off as though it's a fact. You're quite the specialist at it.
Babylon Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 Think Kee wasnt ready but would of liked to see Chambers get more game time last season. Completely agree with you. Chambers should have been the one making the bench this year.
