flanimal Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 He's a predator, I got nothing against those type of players. Personally, a striker that bangs in goals is what it's about. If scores ugly hattricks, that's better than one brilliant goal. I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, but there are better players at age 18. But you can't really teach goalscoring talent, and Kee has that.
Red Leicester Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Bollocks to any player who doesn't want to be at the club, especially ones who have faces that upset animals and small children.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Bollocks to any player who doesn't want to be at the club, especially ones who have faces that upset animals and small children. Where did he say he didnt want to be at the club? Dickhead.
Red Leicester Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Where did he say he didnt want to be at the club? Dickhead. Well done child - you have mastered Level 1 insults. Keep it up and one day you may be a keyboard warrior to rival Ultra.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Well done child - you have mastered Level 1 insults. Keep it up and one day you may be a keyboard warrior to rival Ultra. This is coming from the person who has insulted someone over there looks? And nice of you to answer the question.
Koke Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Where did he say he didnt want to be at the club? Dickhead. Him rejecting the contract offer suggest that it's in his best interest to pursue his career elsewhere. I don't think we'll shed a tear anyway. Just like we haven't shed a tear for Chris O'Grady, Alan Sheehan, Louis Dodds etc. I would have liked Kee to stay cos he has shown potential, but meh..
flanimal Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Kee does look like Wayne Rooney's half brother - if the other half is Leatherface.
Red Leicester Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Him rejecting the contract offer suggest that it's in his best interest to pursue his career elsewhere. Him rejecting the contract would indicate he's not totally committed to staying.
Babylon Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 It's not enough because the loan system doesn't encourage it, to our eternal cost development -wise, especially as far as the national team is concerned. It is much easier to go borrow some players than take the risk of bringing them through to first team standard ourselves. I cannot remember the situation when Joachim/Heskey were youngsters but the last four named all came through with the benefit of regular, competitive, reserves team football. Now there is no reserve team what do they do post-18? Leicester has been praised in recent seasons for bringing players through but no-one came through last season who wasn't already established from reserve team football and now they don't even have that. You've only got to read this forum on a week-by-week basis to see that the fans are much quicker to big up new signings than they ever will players coming through the ranks. Kaebi was a classic example. And Laczko. Columns of crap were written about those two while someone like Beswick was a far better prospect. Even Gradel could hardly get an ally until he'd had a season at Bournemouth. Yet he was far better than Newton was ever going to be. There is at least some comfort now in that Pearson clearly brings in capable loanees but, make no mistake, it is already stiffling internal development and Kee's reaction is a clear indication of the consequences. No-one says for one second that Kee should have been ahead of Fryatt or Howard. But giving him some bench time ahead of Hayles, Dickov or even Ajdarevic might have at least given him some worthwhile encouragement. But when your fans include people like Babylon you'd wonder why any youngster comes here. Their chances of a breakthrough would always be next week or whenever there's a match that doesn't matter! And never a word against rent-a-crowd. Stop being a pissy old woman. Why are you trying you make out anyone who disagrees with you is some kind of 2nd class fan bringing the club down? Just because I don't get taken in with all the hype you spout like some on here i'm accused of being anti youth. That's complete and utter horse shit, my mantra has always been if they are good enough they will play, end of. King, Mattock, Stearman, Gradel and Wesolowski before his injuries all made a breakthrough... have I ever said any of them SHOULD NOT be playing, or begrudged them getting a chance? No I haven't. If the manager sees fit that they are good enough then that's fine with me. There is no conspiracy against youth as you seem to think, if these players are so good they would just move on and then climb through the leagues at other clubs. The fact is not a single one of them ever has done. I've seen it all before and not just from you, Wright, Dodds, Petrescu, Dawson, Sheehan etc etc etc etc etc. What exactly have any of these "stars of the future" done, the best you can come up with is 2nd top scorer for Port Vale. Whoopdie fecking doo, i'm sure the board are kicking themselves for letting such talent walk away from the club. Anyone who says the odd youth player would be nice on the bench I have always completely agreed with. But only if they are good enough, there is no point in putting a youth player on the bench if they are not good enough. End of. Even in this thread I said Chambers should have had the odd place on the bench, as he had brought a spark onto the pitch when he had played before. I've also agreed when people have moaned about the lack of a reserve team. It is most definitely to the detriment of a youth team players natural progression. I've gone through all of this before with you, once again you forget all that (becoming quite common) and make me out to be some kind of devil.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Him rejecting the contract would indicate he's not totally committed to staying. But also indicates that he is commited in persueing his career at the best level he can possibly achieve and he obviously doesnt see him doing this at Leicester City.

dandannieldanok Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 We've just won the league, one of our strikers has got over 30 goals and been named League One player of the year and the other striker has won two internal club awards for player of the year yet people moan that a youth striker hasn't had a chance. I personally couldn't give a shit if he goes.

Whilst we may have not shed any tears, we gave him away for bugger all Didn't he score a wonder goal against us? and at 6ft 1 and decent in the air he would of covered for Howard no problem...who else Bazza?

O'Grady would be out of his depth in the Championship. No chance of him contributing anything of any sort to our game. He's at the right level - I would have liked to have received a bit of pocket money for him, but not overly bothered to be honest.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Its a fair point. I used to play in the same team as a lad called Ian Thompson back in the late 80's. To this day ive never seen a better player at youth level. He could do the 100m in about 12 seconds and was built like a brick outhouse he made Billy Kee look like a little girl. Captain of Leicester boys, played for Engalnd under 17's and scored on his England debut at Wembley live on ITV. Turned pro with city, and was in the same team as Joachim. I also played in the same team as Emile Heskey when I was at school for City of Leicester. Put it this way Ian was twice as good as Emile and look what hes gone to achive. To this day i dont understand how my friend never made it. Last time I heard he was playing for Leicester Utd or something. Anyone know what happened to him or who he ended playing for ? Getting back to the point maybe you guys are right and if billy kee wants to go let him go he may regret it. I used to play with Thommo too at Blaby & Whetstone. Shit-hot but bad attitude is imo why he never made it. Where did you play with him?

pooleyLCFC Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 The club currently has about 10 strikers ahead of him1-Fryatt 2-Howard 3-Dickov 4-Hayles 5-Campbell 6-Chambers 7-Odhiambo 8-Sappleton 9-King 10-McKay plus Chamberlain and then Kee OK, Hayles Campbell Odhiambo and Sappleton are likely to be gone this summer, but its pretty certain we'll be bringing in at least 1 new striker. I think the club should really have done more to try and get some of them strikers out on loan this season, especially with no reserve football, the likes on Chambers and McKay at least. Just look at how it helped Gradel. With 42 goals in 44 games, and seeing other 17 year old strikers get into their first team for their efforts (Macheda), the competition for places next season and no reserve team, you can understand his frustration. Inverness Caledonian Thistle signed him on a free in January
foxoffderby Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I used to play with Thommo too at Blaby & Whetstone. Shit-hot but bad attitude is imo why he never made it. Where did you play with him? We were very good mates at school, City of Leicester in the 80's. He had a bad attitude then as well, but you had to get to know him he was ok. He was always fighting at school with people in the years above him and getting sent off loads while playing for city boys. He was an animal on the pitch stamping and punching people when he could get away with it. But he was also awesone, had it all. Scored goals for fun.You having played with him also must rate him as one the best you've played with or against? I rememer only losing once or twice when he played in our school team he was that good in over 3/4 years. The last time I spoke to him hed just turned pro with Leicester city. I think he started smoking and getting involved with women, which didnt help his career. Like I said could'nt believe Joachim and Heskey (who I played with too at city boys) made it and Ian didnt. Talent wise he was way better than both of them. But like you say he had a very bad attitude problem and a bad upbringing which didnt help. Wheares Heskey and Joachim were willing to get their heads down and graft. I also think he may of been labeled a little bit lazy compared to those two. Its shame really thought he would go right to the very top. Do you now what happened to him after City?

Shrenchel Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Who really gives a shit if he wasn't given a chance?! We won the league, broke a shit load of records and both are main strikers had absolutely cracking seasons. You could maybe argue he should have been given a few minutes here and there where Hayles was (although how anyone can presume their judgement to be better than Pearson's who saw him play day in, day out is beyond me), but either way it wouldn't have made a difference. The lad is after first team football next season. We're clearly going to strengthen the squad with another decent striker or two, Hayles or Dickov won't be the stand-in next season. Kee clearly aint ready for the Championship yet so let him do one.
foxoffderby Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Didnt play with joachim just heskey. Meant Ian and joachim both played in the reserves. Joachim made it Ian thompson didnt. I played with Heskey and ian thompson while we were at city of leicester school. Sorry for the confusion.

I played with Heskey and ian thompson while we were at city of leicester school. Sorry for the confusion. People refer to Joachim as a successful player, but he wasn't really, was he? I mean, he had a few great games and goals for City, but then went to Villa and played a few mediocre games, and now plays for Kings Lynn in the non leagues. He's only about 34, and considering he was playing in the same England U-21s as Robbie Fowler, he disappointed massively.
