Benji Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Anyone happen go to this for any reason last weekend between York City and Stevenage? I went with my flat mate who's a York fan and normally they take about a 1000 each week at home or a couple of hundred away. Well there were about 27,000 at wembley (including Stevenage) and my God they had some nutters. He got seats organised with their group of maniacs and its been all over the news because of this: I was smack in the middle thinking what the hell is going on, coughing my lungs up but its was pretty funny at the time. The stewards didn't have a clue what to do, so just called in a few cops and ejected about 20 people randomly to make sure they got the right ones. Don't see it much in England Sh1te game!
ASH17LCFC Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 :scarf: Jorvik Reds :scarf: Yeah lets start letting of flare Thats safe.
Benji Posted 14 May 2009 Author Posted 14 May 2009 :scarf: Jorvik Reds :scarf: That's the one Yeah lets start letting of flare Thats safe. There were about 3 and a couple of smoke bombs. There was never any problems until a lad that looked no older than 12 set one off in the second half and then upon realising he could get arrested, threw it forward, it landed on a guys foot and burnt his shoe... disabled. Amazing how he got it in the stadium security was pretty tight.
JakeShingler Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Defo going to try and make a York game next season.
Fosse Boy Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Defo going to try and make a York game next season. Likewise.
Shrenchel Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Fair play to them, good to see considering how sterile Wembley usually is. Maybe not the smartest thing they've ever done though. They run a fine line, get a lot of bad press and the authorities and the club itself have made it clear they're far from happy with their activities. Bringing this much attention on themselves could be the beggining of the end. Hope not though.
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I was in a pub in London which was full of York fans. Seemed to be having a great laugh.
Sparky Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I could have gone.My mate was the referee Kevin Friend , reffed me few years ago . You could tell the difference
DB11 Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Kevin Friend , reffed me few years ago . You could tell the difference Yep - he got promoted to the Premiership on Monday I think it was. Well, I think he did. Everyone was saying congratulations etc. to him on Facebook and then Andre Marriner said that he's just heard the good news and congratulations for next season. So I think it's pretty much done And what difference? He was better on Sunday than when he reffed you or when he reffed you he stood out from all the other usual referees?
Craig Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I could have gone.My mate was the referee Oooooooh Friend
ousefox Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 I went. It was quite a good atmosphere considering the ground was on 1/3 full. Have flares like that ever been done at Wembley? York have been threatened with a points deduction for letting of flares on previous occasions. Took this when i was there.
Fox You Forest Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Oooooooh Friend  Ohhhhh Ref Friend.
Tevez Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Yeah lets start letting of flare Thats safe. You sound like Uncle Albert.
Alexikokopops Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 And what difference? He was better on Sunday than when he reffed you or when he reffed you he stood out from all the other usual referees? I think Sparky was implying that you could tell your mate was a lot better than other refs he's experienced.

The york fans love the video This was about 20 rows behind me and to the right: Some others: (If you see them on facebook the people aren't tagged properly, just so his mates can see them)

MC Prussian Posted 15 May 2009 Posted 15 May 2009 Quality.Lets get flares down the way Don't you burn your precious little fingers.

So I think it's pretty much done And what difference? He was better on Sunday than when he reffed you or when he reffed you he stood out from all the other usual referees? He gained instant respect , he wasnt well known then he just knew how to get it . Only a few refs ive experienced have been good enough to get that. Martin Dexter who is a assistant in the football league is another I think Sparky was implying that you could tell your mate was a lot better than other refs he's experienced. Correct
