theadmans Posted 16 April 2011 Posted 16 April 2011 Ainleys was great - bought my first vinyl LP in there - would have been Kraftwerk early 80s "Computer World". Also bought my first CDs there (all the German import Kraftwerk titles) around 1985. The CD section was comically small - just one display stand in a dark corner! I remember Cank Street secondhand shop - it stank like only a secondhand record shop can! When I bought my first CDs I off loaded all my vinyl in there - the guy must have made a fortune out of me. However, I got my own back - my car stereo chewed up a rare New Order cassette tape. So I carefully unscrewed the original shell of the cassette and reinserted a blank TDK tape. Re-recorded the album from a CD on to the tape and then sold the cassette to Cank Street as an original rare tape in the original box!
