Matt Posted 25 May 2009 Posted 25 May 2009 I have nothing but respect for Speedway riders! Absolutely mental, some of the crashes they have, Crazy. I know they choose to do it, but they have some bollocks to do it. Just watching it on Sky, Coventry v Ipswich, A major crash just happened, 1 rider was excluded from the previous stopped race, the re-run started and all 3 rider were took out, 1 went under the air fence, 1 had the bike lying on top of him (They have said the exhust was on his arm so he has a really bad burnt arm and has been carted off to hospital) and the other 1 managed to get up.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 May 2009 Posted 25 May 2009 Coventry speedway is always a good night out, stock car racing down there is decent too.
Matt Posted 25 May 2009 Author Posted 25 May 2009 Coventry speedway is always a good night out, stock car racing down there is decent too. Yeah not bad, I've not been for years, Never been for the stock car racing but my Grandad used to take me as a kid, Speedway is the only thing decent and I like from Coventry
Matt Posted 27 June 2009 Author Posted 27 June 2009 British GP tonight. Sky have actually gave this some decent coverage, build up and advertisement as well. Hopefully should be good.
Hullfox Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 The money they get is rubbish compared to the danger they expose themselves to.
Matt Posted 27 June 2009 Author Posted 27 June 2009 The money they get is rubbish compared to the danger they expose themselves to. I know it's crazy. I was discussing it with my mate the other day and I was saying some of the crashes they have are crazy yet they get back up and race in the next race the majority of the time, and he said "it's all about the money" and I don't know exactly what they get paid but I thought they don't get paid that much I wouldn't have thought, it isn't the most popular sport, its not a hugely sponsored sport, and there isn't that much money in Speedway. I wouldn't and couldn't do it.
Matt Posted 27 June 2009 Author Posted 27 June 2009 This sport has just got even better, 2 of the riders ramming each other of the track because one of the forced the other wide, then both getting on their bikes and having a scrap! Brilliant.
Poakey Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 Great entertainment!Thrilling stuff tonight.Shame about Harris. Some dodgy decisions but the riders seem to take it on the chin, thats racing is the atitude they seem to have. Used to watch the stock cars with my dad aswell at Cov,Long Eaton,Hednesford and Northampton.Nice memories.
isaidno Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 what a fight. they should have took their helmets off though
Matt Posted 28 June 2009 Author Posted 28 June 2009 what a fight. they should have took their helmets off though Of all the riders to pick a fight with, He picked Scotty Nicholls.
Floating Fox Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 I went to see a live race at Wolverhampton...I think they were up against Belle Vue at the time when they had world champ Jason Crump...Excellent night out for everyone.
Sparky Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 Anyone know the latest on speedway returning to Leicester ?
Bakey Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 British GP tonight.Sky have actually gave this some decent coverage, build up and advertisement as well. Hopefully should be good. Went to the British GP a few years back when Chris "Bomber" Harris won. It was electric
Ultra Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 Anyone know the latest on speedway returning to Leicester ? An application has been made for detailed planning permission, which will probably be given over the summer. Once this happens, the track should be ready within the next two years. Further details are available at the Leicester Speedway web site..
Ultra Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 Went to the British GP a few years back when Chris "Bomber" Harris won. It was electric I was there too - and also on Saturday when Jason Crump gave an absolute masterclass. It's a quality day out. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially with so many air horns.
