SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Hussey and Katich looked ominously good today. Will be interesting to see how the Aussie bowlers do tomorrow.. Katich has been in great form since taking over from Jaques. Good to see Hussey getting some runs has done much in the last 12 months. Our Bowlers there is only one man to watch.................PETEY SIDDLE
Ultra Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Siddle's being rested for this game. Word is that it's between Brett Lee and Stuart Clark for the last place in the Test side.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Siddle's being rested for this game.Word is that it's between Brett Lee and Stuart Clark for the last place in the Test side. Yeah Sids is being rested but "if" he can stay fit he will be Australias go to bowler during the Ashes, great bowler and i picked it a while ago when he was playing in only his first couple of first class games he would be in the test team soon which has happend and he is yet to dissapoint. He will scare some English Batsmen. If the selectors had any balls.....which they haven't for the last 3-4 years. They will play Stew Clark. Sids and Mitch are attacking bowls who vary there length and try to blast out players.....as does Lee. Where Clark is line and length keep it tight and make the batsman get them self out. Mitch and Sids are well ahead of Lee. I assume Mcdonald and North would be the 4th and 5th bowlers.
Ultra Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 With Cardiff supposedly a spinners' track, I assume Hauritz will be picked. He doesn't exactly invoke fear and awe among opposing batsmen in the way Shane Warne did..
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 With Cardiff supposedly a spinners' track, I assume Hauritz will be picked. He doesn't exactly invoke fear and awe among opposing batsmen in the way Shane Warne did.. Hauritz is hopless and one of the reasons why i hate the selectors.....all but Boon and Big Merv. If Hauritz is playing Lee may get the nod as Hauritz is a defensive bowler but would much prefer to have Mcgain in the squad.
Fox You Forest Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Today showed why Monty will get the nod over Rashid quiet comfortably. Second time lucky.
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 If Panesar and Hauritz both play, they will cancel each other out. I can't see either of them making a meaningful contribution to the series.
Milky Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Warwickshire are taking a pounding. 81-8. Anderson 5, Flintoff 2. Monty 1
Fox You Forest Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Panesar took 3 for 10 off 7.4. That's nice to see.
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Panesar took 3 for 10 off 7.4. That's nice to see. Only tailenders though. The Aussies will hardly be quaking in their boots. Especially when Brett Lee bowls as well as he did today - his best figures EVER in England.
Milky Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Only tailenders though. The Aussies will hardly be quaking in their boots.Especially when Brett Lee bowls as well as he did today - his best figures EVER in England. Only against the B team though. The first eleven will hardly be quaking in their boots...
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 There's still some distance in quality between the England B team top order and the lower order of Warwickshire's second team.
Milky Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 what are you going on about. All i did was post his figures for the day and you're off on one.
Ultra Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 I merely put his figures into context. They don't prove that he's ready for a Test comeback just yet.
Milky Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 We'll play two spinners in the first test whether you like it or not. That's why it's nice to see him take a few. Rashid is batting beautifully here which you just won't get from Monty, but he didn't take any wickets or look threatening. If Rashid takes a few in the second innings it'll be an interesting decision.
Fox You Forest Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Referee Bennett lands cricket jobBennett refereed the 2007 FA Cup final at Wembley Premier League football referee Steve Bennett is to switch sports to take up a new role with the England and Wales Cricket Board. The 48-year-old, who took charge of the 2007 FA Cup final, will become director of the ECB's new Association of Cricket Officials (ACO). Bennett will work on developing umpires and off-field officials. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/8132360.stm Umm.. They'll be going downhill in no time then.
Libertine Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 SS1 Only? Wasn't it on C4 at times in the last one? Last UK one anyway.

Ultra Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Big innings by Marcus North today. That should nail the Aussie No.6 spot for him. It may encourage the Aussies to go for four seamers, especially as Hauritz was again unconvincing.
Fox You Forest Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Andrew Strauss (capt) Alastair Cook Ravi Bopara Kevin Pietersen Paul Collingwood Matt Prior (wkt) Andrew Flintoff Stuart Broad Graeme Swann James Anderson Monty Panesar Ian Bell Graham Onions Harmison can count him self unlucky he looked dangerous in the warm up game, Happy to see Sidebottom isn't there though.
